UNIT1. NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN?
Lesson 1: Part 1-2-3
I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to:
- Know the way to greet formally.
- Broaden Ss knowledge about vocabularies: morning, afternoon, evening, night
and structure: Good ______, ___________.
- Practice listening and speaking skills.
II. Teaching aids
1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, handouts, cassette, CDs
2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.
III. Procedures
Warm up:
- Sing ABC Alphabet song.
**Observation:
T’s assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can remember this song
** Q&A: (assess 2-3 Ss)
- Interview: What’s your name?
How do you spell your name?
Activity 1.
Part 1. Look, listen and repeat
- Discover the pictures on page 5
+ Who are they in the picture?
+ Where are they?
- Focus ss on the conversation between the class and Miss Hien.
- Listen to the record a few times


- Listen and repeat line by line
- Read again in roles (by looking at their books)
- T elicits the sentence pattern: if you greet someone in the morning, you say: good morning
Activity 2.
Part 2. Point and say
- Look at the pictures.
- Learn and repeat the vocabulary (good morning. Good afternoon. Good evening.
Goodnight)
- Point to Picture a and let Ss say out the formal greeting
Example: S1. Good morning, Miss Hien.
S2. Good morning, Mai.
- Practice the way to greet formally in pairs by looking at one of the pictures.
** T’assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can practice exactly
- Some pairs act out in front of the class in some parts of a day at school, the others observe.

Ss’assessment:
- Focus on their voice & pronunciation; their intonation, their communication, their eye
contacts. T gives oral comments.
Activity 3.
Part 3. Listen and tick
- Show the picture on P 7
- Ask Ss identify the characters and tell what they can see.
- Play the recording (x3) for Ss to listen and tick.
- Have Ss to trade their answers in pairs.
** T’s assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can do exactly.
SS self- assessment.
T gives comments and corrects.

- Practice listening and speaking skills.
II. Teaching aids
1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, handouts, cassette, CDs
2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.
III. Procedures
Warm up:
- Greeting : T: Good morning, children
S: good morning, teacher
Activity 1.
Part 4. Look and write
-Tell Ss that they are going to fill the gaps with morning, afternoon or bye.
- Give them a few seconds to look at the pictures.
- Give them time to do the task independently.
- Get them to swap their answers with their partner before checking as a class.
** T’s assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can do exactly.

Activity 2.
Part 5. Let’s sing


- Tell Ss that they are going to sing the song Good morning to you.
- Get Ss to read line of the lyrics.
- Play the recording all the way through.

- Ask Ss to do choral and individual repetition of the song line by line.
- Ask a group of four to the front of the class to sing the song.
- Have the class sing the song again and clap their hands to reinforce the activity
** Assessement:- Ss’ singing: phonics, speed, stress and rhythm (exactly, ok..)
- You sing beautifully/well/wonderfully......(T can use his/ her body language)
C. Home – link: sing the song with your relatives.

Lesson 2: Part 1-2-3
I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to:
- Say the sentences: Nice to meet you/ See you tomorrow/ See you later.
- Revision: Greet and respond to formal greetings.
- Broaden Ss knowledge about vocabularies: Goodbye/ bye, again, meet, tomorrow, good
night, later
- Practice listening and speaking skills
II. Teaching aids
1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, handouts, cassette, CDs
2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.
III. Procedures
Warm up:
- Bingo game
- Tell Ss: there are six words in the grid: ( good morning, good afternoon. Good evening,
goodbye and hello)
- Asks SS to play game in 2 groups
**Observation:
T’s assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can remember vocabularies they
have learnt.( note: mistakes in dictation and pronunciation)
Activity 1.
Part 1. Look, listen and repeat

- Ask Ss to open their books on P 8
- Ask: Who are they?
- Focus ss on the short conversation between Miss Hien and her pupils. ( twice)
- Listen to the record a few times
- Listen and repeat line by line
- Read again in roles (by looking at their books)
- Check Ss’ understanding: It’s nice to meet you/ Nice to meet you.
Activity 2.
Part 2. Point and say


- Look at the pictures.
- Learn and repeat the vocabulary (Goodbye/ bye, See you again, See you tomorrow, good
night, See you later)
- Point to Picture a and let Ss practice greeting in different situations
Example: T: Goodbye. See you tomorrow.
S: Goodbye. See you later
- Practice in pairs by looking at one of the pictures.
** T’assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can practice exactly
- Some pairs act out in front of the class, the others observe.

II. Teaching aids
1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, handouts, cassette, CDs
2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.
III. Procedures
Warm up:
- Greeting : T: Good morning, children
S: good morning, teacher
- Ask the whole class to sing the Good morning to you song.
Assessement:- Ss’ singing: phonics, speed, stress and rhythm (exactly, ok..)
You sing beautifully/well/wonderfully......


Activity 1.
Part 3. Listen and number
- Show the picture on P 9
- Ask Ss identify the characters and tell what they can see.
- Play the recording (x3) for Ss to listen and number.
- Have Ss to trade their answers in pairs.
** T’s assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can do exactly.

Activity 2
Part 4. Look and write
-Tell Ss that they are going to look at the picture and fill in the gaps.
- Give them a few seconds to look at the pictures.
- Give them time to do the task independently.
- Get them to swap their answers with their partner before checking as a class.

Part 5. Let’s play
-Tell ss that they are going to play the game “Bingo” to revise how to greet, say and
respond to goodbye.
-Give the ss a few seconds to read the words in the grid.
-Divide class into 3 groups.
-Check comprehension.
-Give ss time to play the game.
** Assessement:- Go around and Observe if the students can remember vocabularies they
have learnt.( note: mistakes in dictation and pronunciation)
- Give comment and praise the winner.

Lesson 3: Part 1-2-3


I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to:
- Greet and respond to formal greetings.
- Pronounce correctly the sound of the letters “ l ” and that of the letter “ n ”.
- Develop listening, reading, writing skills.
II. Teaching aids


1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, handouts, cassette, CDs
2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.
III. Procedures
Warm up:
Slap the board.
- Have Ss play the game: Slap the board.

- Review vocabulary about the greeting
- Ss realize the words quickly and slap exactly.

Activity 1.
Part 1. Listen and repeat
- Play the CD and have Ps repeat each line of the chant.
Focus Ps’ attention on the letters colored differently in the words Linda and night
-Introduce the sounds /l/ and /n/
-Have Ps practice the sounds carefully
-Play the CD and have Ps read :
Hello, Linda
Good night
-Ask Ps to give which sounds in Vietnamese are similar to, and then have Ps read words after
T
- Have Ss learn to produce the sound of the letters “ l” in the word Linda and that of the
letter “n” in the word Good night.
** T’s assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can phonics, speed, stress and
rhythm (exactly, ok..)
Activity 2.
Part 2. Listen and circle. Then write and say aloud
- Have pupils look at the sentences and guess the suitable words to circle .
- Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen and circle.
- Play the recording again pupils check their answers.
- Have pupils to write on the boad the sentences and say them aloud.
** T’s assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can do exactly.
T gives comments if the students can produce the good sound and corrects: (1b, 2b,3b, 4a)
Activity 3.
Part 3.Let’s chant
- Introduce the Chant Hello
-Turn on the tape.
- Ss listen to the tape and repeat the chant.
Assessement:- Ss’ chant: phonics, speed, stress and rhythm (exactly, ok..)
You chant beautifully/well/wonderfully......

C. Home – link: Let’s chant Hello with your relatives.

Lesson 3: Part 4-5-6
I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to:
- understand the content of the student’s cards and can write about your name, your
hometown and school.
- Develop listening, reading, writing skills.
II. Teaching aids
1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, handouts, cassette, CDs
2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.
III. Procedures
Warm up:
- Chant Hello
** Assessement:- Go around and Observe if the students can remember.( note: speed,
rhythm)
- Give comment and praise some Ss who chant well.
Activity 1.
Part 4. Read and answer
- Show student’s cards on P11 and ask:
- Ask Ss identify the characters and guess what they are saying.
- Asks SS some questions about name, class, school, hometown
- Reads then ask SS to repeat.( 2or 3)
- Calls SS to read the student’ cards
- Asks SS to read the student’ cards in groups to answer the questions in book
- Have Ss to trade their answers in pairs.
- call on some Ss to read and answer the questions.
** T’s assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can do exactly.

Activity 2
Part 5. Write about you
-Tell Ss that they are going to write about your name, your hometown, class and
school.
- Give them time to do the task independently.
- Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class.
** T’s assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can do exactly.

Activity 3.
Part 6. Project
- Tell Ss that they are going to do a project.
- Explain the activities and check understanding.
- Give each pupil a small card. Let Ss copy the four categories from the book onto their
cards.
- Ask them to write the information about themselves.
- Get them to swap their cards in pairs.
- Call some Ss to the front of the class and tell the class about their partners.
** Assessement:- Go around and Observe if the students can do exactly.
- Give comment and praise .

from…His/Her school is……………… Thank you for your listening.)
