STARTER: WELCOME BACK!
LESSON ONE
OBJECTIVES:
- Identifying different places in a home
- Listening – Speaking
- ML: Welcome back to all their friends and also welcome to the new ones.
1. WARMER:
- As children come into class, smile and say Hello.
-Encourage children to say Hello back to the teacher.
- Say It’s a new year. Welcome back!
- Begin the class with some common greetings.
- Children then practice greeting each other in pairs or small
groups.
2. PRESENTATION:
- Tell children that they are going to begin the lesson with a
song.
- Ask children to open their Class Books and look at the three
children at the top of the page.
- Point to each one in turn for children to tell you their names.
- Explain that they will see these characters the whole way
through the course.
Task 1: Introduction
3. PRACTICE:
Task 2 : Listen and sing
- Recording 1: Explain that they’re going to listen to a
'Welcome back' song and then sing it.
- Play the recording once for children to listen and follow the
song in their books. Focus attention on the words.
- Read each line for children to repeat.
- Play the recording again for children to sing along.
Task 3: Song actions
- Ask children to think of some actions for the song.
- Play the song again for children to sing and do their actions.
Task 4: Listen and read
- Recording 2: Use the Starter Story Poster to present the story.
- Point to the characters for children to say the names.
- Ask What’s happening in the story?/ Who’s in front of the
camera? / Who’s Rosy’s cousin? / Where’s Billy?/
- Listen the story then listen again and repeat
4. PRODUCTION:
Guessing game: Describe a character from the story for
children to guess who it is
e.g. She’s in the kitchen.
- Ask different children to describe another character for the
class to guess.
5. HOMEWORK:
- Prepare lesson 2.

Spelling quiz.
- Draw a family tree and elicit the family members.
- Talk about and describe 2 of the family
2. PRESENTATION:
Task 1: Introduction
- Ask the children what they can remember about the story
Who has got curly hair?
Who has got green eyes?
Who has got brown hair?
- Listen to the recording again, role play and do the actions
3. PRACTICE:
Task 2: Circle True (T) or False (F)
- Look at the sentences (Part 2/ SB 5)
- Choose T / F
- Peer correction.
Task 3: Listen and number
- Play the track 3
- Children to write the numbers on the pictures.
- Play again for the children to check their answers
Task 4: Point and say
- Read the sentences (Part 4 / SB 5)
- Take turn to point to a person in the picture and describe
them
4. PRODUCTION:
Task 5: Describe yourself
- Ask one child to come before the class to describe himself/
herself. Who am I?
- Continue the activity in the same way.(5-6 students) (For
better students)
5. HOMEWORK:

- Sing the Welcome song (p. 4)
- Do the actions
2. PRESENTATION:
Task 1: Ask and answer
- Read the sentences in the first speech bubble to the class
- Take turns to 'introduce' their friends to each other
3. PRACTICE:
Task 2: Look and say
- Read the sentences (Part 4 / SB 5)
- Take turn to point to a person in the picture and describe
them
Task 3: Introducing circle
- Stand in a circle.
- First child introduce the person on his left to the person on his
right.
- The person on the right then introduces the one on his left.
- Continue in this way around the class to introduce the friend.
Task 4: Listen and sing
- Play the recording once for children to listen.
- Read each line of the song aloud for children to repeat after
you.
- Play the recording again for children to sing along.
- Repeat (twice)
Task 5: Sing and do
- Look at the pictures and decide together on what the actions
should be.
- Ask children to look at Class book, p. 6 look at the pictures
- Ask What can you see? Elicit the actions the children are
doing (jumping, waving).
- Listen, sing, and do their actions
4. PRODUCTION:
Play Bingo
- Give the children the Bingo worksheets.
- Ask them to cut up the pictures and choose 9 to put on their
grid.
- Call out the words one by one and the children cross them off
if they have them.
- The first child to complete a row of 3 wins
5. HOMEWORK:
- Practice saying and writing the days of week.
