I. Danh từ đếm được (countable N) và không đếm được (uncountable N)
1. Danh từ không đếm được: Là những N không thể đem ra cân, đo, đong, đếm được
Eg. Water, sugar, milk, soap, bread, time, tea, meat, money, coffee, beef, chocolate
2. Danh từ đếm được (countable N) Là những N có thể đem ra cân, đo, đong, đếm được bằng chiếc, cái, con…
- N đếm được số ít (singular N): a/ an + N: a book, an apple….
- N đếm được số nhiều (plural N): Ns/ es: pens, books, apples…….
* Nguyên tắc đổi sang số nhiều
- Thông thường ta thêm “s” vào sau danh từ số it để thành danh từ số nhiều.
Eg: chair - chairs; girl - girls; dog – dogs
- Ngoại từ các trường hợp sau:
+ Những danh từ tận cùng bằng O, X, S, Z, CH, SH Z lấy thêm ES ở số nhiều.
Eg: potato - potatoes ; box - boxes ; bus - buses ; buzz - buzzes ; watch - watches ; dish - dishes
Ngoại lệ:
Eg: cuckoos, cameos, bamboos, curios, studios, radios
pianos, photos, dynamo, , kilos, , solos
- Những danh từ tận cùng bằng : Y mà trước nó là phụ âm thì chuyển Y thành i + ES. (trước nó là ngun âm
thì thêm s bình thường)
Eg: lady - ladies; story - stories
- Những danh từ tận cùng bằng F hay FE thì chuyển thành VES ở số nhiều.
Eg: leaf - leaves, knife - knives
* Lưu ý:
- Một số danh từ có hình thức số nhiều bất qui tắc:
Ví dụ: child ⇾ children

II. Article ( Mạo từ):


1. Mạo từ bất định : « a/an »
- Dùng trước N đếm được số ít khi N đó chưa xác định.
- “an” được dùng với N bắt đầu bởi nguyên âm (u, e, o, a, I ). Còn lại dùng “a”
Eg: a book, a pen, an apple
Chú ý:
+ Dùng a, hay an căn cứ vào cách phát âm chứ không căn cứ vào cách đánh vần
+ Không dùng a, an trước N không đếm được
2. Mạo từ xác định “The”
- Được dùng trước N chỉ người, vật đã xác định nghĩa là cả người nói và người nghe đều biết đến đối tượng
được đề cập tới, hoặc N đó đã được nhắc ở câu trước
Eg: I bought a book. The book is written by Nguyen Du
- Dùng the trước N chỉ sự duy nhất
Eg: The earth, the sun….
- Dùng the trước 1 adj để tạo thành N tập hợp
Eg: the poor, the blind
- Dùng the trước tên riêng số nhiều để chỉ sự cả gia đình hay dịng họ

- Dùng the trước dân tộc.

a. How much : số lượng + giá
-"How much" được dùng khi bạn muốn hỏi về số lượng của danh từ không đếm được.
Eg. How much time do we have to finish the test? (Chúng ta có bao nhiêu thời gian để hoàn thành bài kiểm tra?)
Eg. How much money did you spend? (Em đã tiêu hết bao nhiêu tiền?)
- Nếu động từ cần dùng là "be" thì bạn ln dùng ở dạng ở số ít (singular), chẳng hạn "is", "was".
- "How much" khi muốn hỏi giá thứ gì đó, áp dụng với cả danh từ đếm được.
Eg. How much is that painting? (Bức tranh kia giá bao nhiêu?)

Eg. How much are those shoes? (Đôi giày này giá bao nhiêu?)
b. How many : bao nhiêu
-"How many" được dùng khi bạn muốn hỏi về số lượng của danh từ đếm được, danh từ đứng sau How many
luôn là số nhiều. "How many + danh từ số nhiều".
Eg. How many tables are there in the kitchen room? There is one.
Eg. How many stools are there in the kitchen room? There are six.
