UNIT 7: WHAT DO YOU LIKE DOING?

Lesson 2: parts: 4,5,6

A. Objective:
By the end of this lesson, students can:
- Listen to four dialogues about hobbies and number the pictures.
- Write the answers to the questions about someone's hobbies.
- Master the vocabulary and patterns about hobbies through the game.
B. Language Materials:
1. Vocabulary: Review (swimming, collecting stamps, playing chess, reading , watching TV,
riding a bike, playing badminton, flying a kite, taking photos, playing the piano, singing)
2. Sentence patterns: Review
What do you like doing? or What’s your hobby?
I like taking photos.
C. Teaching Aids: Pictures, boards, student’s book, recording, cards.
D. Procedure:
Teacher’s activities
1. Warm-up : ( 5’)
- Ask Ss to sing a song: “Head, Shoulders, Knees &
Toes”
- Have Ss play a game: Pass the box.
- Direct the game: Have Ss listen to music. T passes a box
to Ss and then T pauses music. S1 asks: “What’s your
hobby? or What do you like doing?”, S2 answers: “I
like……..”
- Organize the game.


- Comment.
2. New lesson:
a. Part 4: Listen and number. (10’)
- Ask Ss to look at the pictures and identify who the
characters are and what they like doing.( a. Linda likes
flying a kite ; b. Mai and Tony like singing ; c. Nam likes
playing badminton ; d.Tony likes taking photographs.)
-Tell Ss that they are going to listen to four dialogues
about hobbies and number the pictures.
- Divide the class into two teams and have them guess the
answers.
- Ask Ss to listen three times and number the pictures.
+1st:Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen
while they are looking at the pictures in their books.
+2nd: Play the recording for Ss to listen and number the

correct pictures.
+3rd: Play the recording for Ss to check their answers.
- Give feedback: a 2, b 4, c 1, d 3

- Ask some questions to ensure Ss’ comprehension of the
listening text.
b. Part 5: Look and write (10’)
- Ask Ss to look at 4 pictures on the screen and tell the
contents of these pictures.
- Tell Ss that they are going to write the answers to the
questions about someone’s hobbies.
- Give Ss time to do the task in pairs. Go around offering
help, if necessary.
- Call Ss to write their answers on the board through the
game: Who’s faster?
- Give feedback: Key: 1. riding a bike
2. flying a kite
3. taking photographs/ photos
4. playing badminton
- Call Ss to practice these completed dialogues.
- Comment
c. Part 6: Let’s play (8’)
* Guide Ss to play a game: “Hot seat”
- Divide class into 2 groups.
- Direct the game:
+ Each group chooses one “hot seat” player to compete
and sit on the “hot seat” chair by guessing and saying
correctly the action of your classmates about hobbies on
the cards (collecting stamps, playing football, reading

comic books, riding a bike, playing the piano, playing the
guitar, flying a kite, drawing pictures, listening to music,
….).
+ The whole class will take turn to mime one of the
phrases on the cards (e.g. playing football) and “ hot seat”
players will ask: What's your hobby?/ What do you like
doing?. Which “hot seat” player first guesses the hobby,
says You like playing football and sticks it on the board.
Which team gets more phrases on the board at the end of
the game, winning the game and getting my present.

3. Consolidation: (2’)

- Listen again and check.
