The Socialist Republic of Vietnam
a. Area and Population: Vietnam is loctaed at the eastern edge of mainland Southeast
Asia, it covers 311,699 square kilometres. Vietname is the fifteenth-most populous
country in the world with over 96 million people.
b. Economy: Its economy has been based largely on agriculture - mainly wet rice
cultivation. Tourism is an important element of economic activity, contributing 7.5% of
the total GDP.
c. Education: General education in Vietnam is divided into five categories: kindergarten,
elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and universities. A large number of
public schools have been constructed across the country to raise the national literacy rate
which was 95.8% in 2019.
d. Culture: Vietnam is widely diverse nation with over 54 ethnic groups. It is infuenced
by Chinese and European. Vietnam has seen a greater exposure to neighbouring
Southeast Asian, East Asian as well to Western culture and media.

Kingdom of Thailand
a. Area and Population: It spans 513,120 square kilometres, with a population of almost
70 million people.
b. Education: Thailand's youth literacy rate was 98.1% in 2015. A well-organised school
system in Thailand includes kindergartens, primary, lower secondary and upper
secondary schools, numerous vocational colleges, and universities. Education is
compulsory up to and including age 14, with the government providing free education
through to age 17.
c. Economy: Major exports are cars, computers, electric appliances, rice, textiles and


footwear, fishery products, rubber, and jewellery with over US$105 billion.
d. Culture: Thai nationals make up the majority of Thailand's population, 95.9% in 2010.
The remaining 4.1% of the population are Burmese (2.0%), others 1.3%, and unspecified


0.9%. Thailand culture and tradition have a great deal of influence from India, China,
Cambodia, and the rest Southeast Asia.
