CONTENTS
1. What plans can do
(Reproduce, grow, and move by themselves in different
ways respond to surrounding changes…)
Plants can make food, cannot move around
2. What plants need…? (Air, food, water…)
3. Plants classified according to
-whether they have flowers or not
-whether they grow on land or water
-whether their fruits can be eaten or not
4. Characteristics of plants
-Plants are fixed in one position
-Respond slowly to changes around them
-make their own food

3. Animals classified according to
-whether they have bones or not
-how they move
-body covering
-How they reproduce

3.5.1. Characteristic
3.5.2. Variable

-respond quickly to changes
-feed on plants and other animals
How are animals grouped?
-Insects: have three body parts (segments); have feelers
and six legs; lay eggs.
-Fish: have gills, fins and scales; live in water; most lay
eggs
-Birds: have feathers, a beak, two wings and two legs;
lay eggs
-Mammals: females produce milk to feed their young;
bodies covered with hair or fur; most give birth to live
young
1. AIR
- is light
- has no color, smell, fixed shape
- used for breathing through lungs, gills or tiny opening
on leaves; filling ballons and tyres, moving kites and
boats
- Kept clean by having fewer cars on roads, having
factory chimneys, less burning
2. WATER
-has no color, smell, taste, fixed shape
-can flow
-can change to ice or snow, steam or water vapor
-goes round in water cycle

-used for keeping living things alive, drinking, washing,
putting out fires, making things in factories, sports and
games,…
-saved by showering, using basins for washing; reusing
water
Kept clean by treating waste, not littering

4.3.1. Hot places

Conserved by saving water, controlling water
Polluted by oil from ship, litter, untreated waste water
from factories, houses and building
3. SOUND
- can be soft-loud, high- low, unpleasant (called noise)
- make by people, animals, knocking-blowing-plucking,
beating, shaking, using musical instruments
4. PLACES
Kept clean by: throwing less rubbish, not littering,
covering rubbish bins.
5. MATERIALS
-Use for making objects
-Examples: plastics, wood, metal, rubber, glass,
ceramics, fabrics

-Different physical properties (hardness, strength,
flexibility, ability to float or sink in water)
-Chosen depending on their physical properties to suit
the use of the object
-Matter can exist in three states – as solids, liquids and
gases
1. Parts of human
Skeletal System
-Supports our body
-Gives us shape
-Protects out organs
-Organs: bones, joint
Muscular system
-Muscles which contract and pull bones attached to
them
Digestive system
-Breaking down of food into simple substances that can

be absorbed by the blood
-Organs: mouth, gullet of esophagus, stomach, small
intestine, large intestine
Respiratory
-For breathing – to take in oxygen from the air and give
out carbon dioxide into the air
- Organs: lungs, windpipe, blood vessels
Circulatory system
- Carries food, water, oxygen and waste to and from
various parts of the body.
-is made of
+ The heart which pumps blood to all parts of the body
+ Blood which carries digested food, oxygen, carbon
dioxide and nutrients around the body
+ Blood vessels which are tubes through which blood
flows
