MiniDSX-1
The eight-termination MiniDSX-1 is especially designed for small central or remote offices and customer
premises demarcation points. These panels can be used for monitoring, terminating, accessing, and
reconfiguring DS1 (1.544 Mbps) and DS1C (3.152 Mbps) circuits. The front cross-connect panel provides
jack access and cross-connections on the front and IN/OUT equipment terminations on the rear of the
panel. The rear cross-connect panel has jacks on the front with the cross-connect and IN/OUT equipment

terminations on the back of the panel. Chassis include one preinstalled eight-termination module (blanks
occupy unused positions). Additional modules are ordered as needed.

Conversion Plugs
Conversion plugs provide a means to interface longframe [310] jacks to bantam jacks. The rear of the
longframe plug is modified to accept either two-conductor or three-conductor bantam plugs.
Hole Plugs
The bantam hole plug is used to fill unused jack
positions or to complete a panel when jacks are to
be added at a later date.
Looping Plugs

Bantam looping plugs are used to “loop” OUT
jacks to IN jacks at the DSX. The plug conductors
are strapped internally. The three-conductor plugs
are wired tip to tip, ring to ring and sleeve
to sleeve.
Terminating Plugs
The bantam terminating plug is used to terminate a circuit with a specific load. It has an integrated 0.5
watt ± 1 percent resistor. The plug shell is marked with the resistance value. Other resistance values
available on special order.
Dummy Plugs
When bantam dummy plugs are inserted into jack
circuits, they actuate the circuit contacts and do
not carry a signal.

Circuit Guard Plugs
Circuit guard plugs snap-fit into bantam jacks, but do not actuate the circuit.
• Single circuit guard plugs identify and block entry to critical circuits.
• Quad circuit guard plugs cover the send and receive sides of a four-wire circuit, yet leave the monitor
jacks open. They feature a clear window and white designation card.
• Dual circuit guard plugs cover the IN and OUT jacks. They feature a plastic window and designation
card, and are offered in kits of 25.

Ordering Information
Bantam patch cords are plastic jacketed, shielded
cords with molded-on plugs with molded insulation
between conductors. The patch cords are available
with single and dual three-conductor plugs. A cord
strain relief feature is included in the plug
construction. Dual twisted pair patch cords are
recommended for protection against crosstalk,
especially during switch cutovers and when patch
cords over 12 feet are used.

Applications
The MPOP DSX products are designed for customer premises minimum point of presence applications for
interconnection of DS3 (45 Mbps), DS4 (274.176 Mbps) STS-1 (51.84 Mbps) and STS-3 (155 Mbps) service.
The module is used when only a few high speed lines are terminated and no cross-connect field or tracer
lamps are required.
The MPOP-2 Series provides a means to access the circuit for testing and monitoring. Loopbacks can be
performed by utilizing the front panel jacks. The MPOP-2 Series can also be used for interconnection of any
digital equipment operating at the DS3 Rate.

accommodate maximum cable density. Permanent equipment connections have been recessed to allow the

the RZX-3 system is fully modular throughout chassis, circuit frames and jacks. Individual BNC circuit frames

RZX-3 – Individual Modules
3-Port Module
The 3-port module provides IN and OUT switching jacks for direct access to the network element’s input and
output signals, and a single MONITOR jack connected to the OUT jack for non-intrusive access to the network
element’s output signal.
4-Port Module
The 4-port module provides IN and OUT switching jacks for direct access to the network element’s input and
output signals. DUAL MONITOR jacks allow monitoring both directions of transmission at a single module
location.
6-Port Module
The 6-port module provides IN and OUT switching jacks for direct access to the network element’s input and
output signals. DUAL MONITOR jacks allow monitoring both directions of transmission at a single module
location. In addition to these four jacks, the 6-port module provides auxiliary X-IN and X-OUT switching jacks that
access toward the cross-connect. These additional access ports are especially helpful when the other end of the
cross-connect is physically located at a great distance (such as another room or floor) or when access to the other
end is restricted (such as the collocation of two different service providers).
Rack Mounting
Whether selecting the 24- or 32-position 4-inch high mounting chassis, all configurations are compatible with
19-inch rack mounting. With its basic architecture, RZX-3 is ideal for any 19-inch or 23-inch mounting arrangement
in racks or cabinets.
