Networking Letter (FREE)

When you are in the job market, never let a networking opportunity go by without following up with
your letter and resume. You never know how it will pay off. This personal touch will give your letter
more clout. And occasionally you may discover a job opportunity that has not even been advertised
yet! Just remember to keep it informal.

Dear Brenda:
It was a pleasure to meet you at the Leads luncheon last Wednesday. With people from so many
different specialties in the room, I was surprised to find out how much we have in common.
With our two soccer-loving daughters, it looks like you and I have many afternoons in the
bleachers ahead of us!

As promised, I’m enclosing my resumed for your review. Your after-school child care program
is of great interest to me. As I told you, I really believe the time has come for me to make a
change. When fifth graders have to go through a weapons check before coming to class, the
tension in the classroom has exceeded my comfort level.

My twenty years of teaching experience in grades K-12 should be appropriate for the position

you mentioned. My volunteer work setting up a nursery at the local YMCA involved a similar
age group and environment as your program. And, of course, I am raising a young daughter of
that age myself.

It would be such a delight to work with children in a safe, wholesome atmosphere. Judging by
how well we hit it off the other day, I have to say I’d look forward to working with someone so
fun-loving and light-hearted as well. Thanks for considering me. I’ll call next week so we can
talk about it further.

With warm regards,

Gayle Shyler
