France
Eiffel Tower: The Eiffel Tower as seen

The Eiffel Tower is a 19th century iron
lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars
in Paris that has become both a global icon
of France and one of the most recognizable
structures in the world. The Eiffel Tower,
which is the tallest building in Paris, is the
single most visited paid monument in the
world; millions of people ascend it every
year. Named after its designer, engineer
Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the
entrance arch for the 1889 World's Fair.

The tower stands at 324 m (1,063 ft) tall,
about the same height as an 81-story building.
It was the tallest structure in the world from its
completion until 1930, when it was eclipsed by
the Chrysler Building in New York City. Not
including broadcast antennas, it is the second-
tallest structure in France, behind the

Millau Viaduct, just completed in 2004. And
while the Eiffel Tower is a steel structure, and
weighs approximately 10,000 tonnes, it
actually has a relatively low density, weighing
less than a cylinder of air occupying the same
dimensions as the tower.

The tower has become the most prominent
symbol of both Paris and France. The tower
is a featured part of the backdrop in
literally scores of movies that take place in
Paris. Its iconic status is so established that
it even serves as a symbol for the entire
nation of France, such as when it was used
as the logo for the French bid to host the
1992 Summer Olympics.

America
Empire State Building:
More than any other building in the
world, the Empire State Building
represents the ambition of humans to
build towers that reach for the skies. It
probably is New York's best known
building and is prominent on many
postcards.

The Empire State
Building also features
in many films, but the

film that made it even
more famous then it
already was, was the
classic King Kong in
1933. Even today,
though the building
has been stripped
from its title of the
world's tallest
building, it is a
symbol of New York
itself visited by 2
million people each
year.

8th World Wonder
At the time it was built on
Fifth Avenue, the Empire State
Building broke all records and was
dubbed 'the 8th world wonder'.
The building had 64 elevators (now
73) and was constructed in only 1
year and 45 days. It was one of the
last skyscrapers built before the
Great Depression hit the real estate
market.

Demolition of the existing building at the site
started just weeks before the stock market
crash of 1929. After 1933 - with the
construction of Rockefeller Center - no tall

State Building's
observatory on the 86th
floor from where you have
a magnificent view over
the city of New York.
The Empire State Building
is situated south of
Midtown, away from the
skyscraper clusters in
midtown and in the
financial district
downtown, so this is one
of the few places in
Manhattan where you
have an open 360
degrees view. For the
best view of the Empire
State Building however,

you better go to
Rockefeller Center's
observatory.

China

Chinese theme parks
have been advocating.
In the past 12 years,
many theme parks have
appeared in China,
including Splendid China,
Folk Culture Villages and
Suzhou Paradise.
These parks feature
beautiful scenery,
architectural art and folk
culture from around the
world. They also hold
various activities in the
parks to promote the
development of cultural
tourism.

"The theme parks have demonstrated Chinese culture as
well as world culture in Shenzhen where natural and
historical resources are rare," said Zhang Zhengkui, vice
chairman of Overseas Chinese Town Cooperation (OCT).
"Cultural tourism has achieved great success in terms of
economic profit and social reward," said Zhang Xiqin,
vice director with the China National Tourism
Administration.
According to the latest statistics, OCT has hosted a total
of 60 million travelers while gaining profits of 1.34
billion yuan in the past. Other theme parks have all
made profits.
The theme parks also contribute to the cultural
exchanges and cooperation.
Last September, a group of professional performers
from the theme parks staged performances in United
States and won much praise.

Introduction
Suzhou Amusement Park is located in the
center of High New District, foot of Lion
Mountain, covering an area of 540 thousand
square meters. The gardens, temples, and
classical culture, the perfect interlude might
just be an afternoon of fun at China's best
amusement park, the Suzhou Amusement
Land. Locally known as "China's Disney
World," the park was built o-nly a few years
ago, and is modeled o-n leading Western

amusement parks. The park also boasts two
international standard steel frame roller

Suzhou falls within north subtropical
monsoonal climate zone with abundant
