Part 1: Answer the following questions
• Can you describe your job?


Of course. I’m a police officer. We uphold law and order through the
detection, prevention and investigation of crime.

• How long have you been doing it?
 I have been doing it for 20 years.
• Can you describe one of your typical working days?
 I go to work by motorbike and be there at about 7:00 a.m. It takes me about
15 minutes from my house to get to my office. My office starts at 7:00 am
and we have a short meeting everyday. Then, I usually start my work at 7:30
a.m. I stop at 11:30 a.m for my lunch and take a short rest. After that, I back
my work. In the afternoon, I finish my work at 5:30 p.m, then I go home.
• What things do you enjoy about your work? Why?
 I love interviewing suspected criminals. Because it is very interesting to try
reading the thinking of suspected criminals.
• What are your plans for the future?
 I’m going to work until I retire.
Part 2: Describe your job
The policeman is entrusted with the task of maintaining peace and harmony of
society, arresting and controlling people who violate laws. He enforces the laws of
the land. One who does not obey the law is punished by the police, It is because of
policemen that our lives and property are safe. Hence, a policeman is important for
the smooth running of any society. He acts as a savior of society.
A police officer is usually assigned to a specific patrol area where they would be
responsible to enforce the law, look for suspicious activity and may even search
and/or arrest suspected criminals. They respond to emergencies, enforce traffic laws
and would investigate complaints. Police are trained in first aid and rescue, because


police officers are often one of the first people to get to a place where people are
sick or injured, such as a car accident, or a fire.


YOUR TOWN
Part 1: Answer the following questions
• Tell me something about your hometown.
 I was born and raised in a family on the outskirts of Hanoi. The village where
I lived has a very tranquil atmosphere.
• What do you like about your town?
 I really like the hospitality of the people in my hometown where we are
living close together and willing to give others a hand when needed. It’s what
I can hardly find in my current residential area where neighbours see each
other as strangers.
• What is the weather like in your town?
 Ninh Thuan has a typically tropical monsoon climate, with the features of
draught, heat, much wind, strong evaporation. There are two different
seasons: rainy season (Sep-Nov); dry season (Dec-Aug).
• Do you like your hometown?
 Yes, I love my hometown. Because You come and go, but your hometown is
always be there, right where you left it. It will always be a part of you, and
you will always be a part of it.
• Do you often visit your hometown?
 My family visit my hometown every year.
Part 2: Describe your hometown
When I read the cue card, the first thing springing to mind was Bao Phuc –
my small village in a town on the outskirts of Hanoi.
To be specific, it’s located in the far south of the city. This small, tranquil
and picturesque village is typical for the outdoors in Vietnam with winding alleys,
paddy fields and rivers. My hometown is becoming more and more vibrant as time

goes by. It used to be very dull and seemed to fall behind with development, but
now, everything has changed. It’s got a new lease of life with a great economic
situation with an increasing number of factories and chain stores and a developed
education system with many schools springing up over the years.
I love my hometown from the bottom of my heart. It’s where I was born and
raised and where my loved ones settle.


FREE TIME AND HOBBIES
Part 1: Answer the following questions
• What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
 My favorite things to do in my free time is hanging out with my friends and
playing sports.
• Why do you like doing these activities?
 Because I’m able to discharge all the negative feelings by sharing my stories,
making jokes and talking about lots and lots of topics that we can think of
about anything in this world.
• Do you prefer to spend your free time with other people or alone?
 I think it has to depend on the situation as well. When it comes to some spare
time after work, I'd rather just stay at home and lounge about. But on other
occasions, I believe that hanging out with my friends can be a great fun.
• Do you have a hobby?
 I do quite a lot of sport actually. I play football mostly - on Wednesday nights
and Sunday afternoon with a local team.
• What equipment do you need for it?
 We don’t have to prepare anything else.
Part 2: Describe your free time activities
My favorite things to do in my free time is hanging out with my friends and
playing sports. I am a very outgoing person, so I love to meet and have relaxing
times with my friends at the weekend.

We usually sit at a coffee shop to chat about our week, or we sometimes go
shopping to buy some foods and then cook them at one of our houses. Those times
are when I feel comfortable to talk about me, and it really helps me to reduce the
pressure from the works of the entire week. I do quite a lot of sport actually. I play
football mostly - on Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoon with a local team.
A week for me is so long, but thinking of the free and good time to do
whatever I like on Saturday and Sunday gives me more strength and energy to
finish it.



HOLIDAYS

• What do you do when you have a holiday?
 I want to travel around when I have a holiday.
• Who do you usually spend holiday with?
 I usually spend holiday with my family.
• Where do you like to spend your holidays? Why?
 I went to Vinpearl Land, Long Sơn pagoda, too.
• If you could take a holiday anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?
 It is Japan. Because we had the chance to visit many beautiful and famous
destinations. The journey gave me the chance to experience a new culture.
• Where did you go last holiday?
 Last summer, I went to Nha Trang beach with my family, it was such a
memorable summer holiday
Part 2: Describe your last holiday
Last summer, I went to Nha Trang beach with my family, it was such a
memorable summer holiday. The weather was so nice that made me want to run
directly to the beach, enjoy the fresh air and clean water.
I had the chance to eat the seafood there, they were very delicious. I went to

Vinpearl Land, Long Sơn pagoda, too. They were very wonderful. I felt very fun
and happy because I also met many foreigners, they were tourists and I had talked
to them a lot.
We stayed in Nha Trang for a 2 days and the last day, I went to some gift
shop near the beach to buy souvenirs for my grandparents and my friends. When I
came back home, I felt very happy but a little regretted because I wanted to stay
there longer. I told my dad I liked Nha Trang and I hoped we can go to Nha Trang
again one summer.


SHOPPING

• How much time do you spend shopping every week?
 I often go shopping twice a month.
• What do you often buy?
 Foods and drinks, clothes, books, decorations for my house, so on.
• Who do you often go with?
 I sometimes go shopping with my friends because we have the same
opinions.
• Do you enjoy going shopping? Why (not)?
 Yes, I enjoy going shopping, especially in the sales season, because you can
find a lot of special prices.
• What is your favorite shop and why do you like it?
 Coopmart supermarket is a place that I choose for shopping more often. I
think that the quality of all products are tested carefully; prices are fixed;
there are many kinds of goods.
Part 2: Describe your shopping habits
Shopping is one of the habits of all people. According to each person’s monthly
income, he or she has different habits. I myself am an official, so I have shopping
habits such as individual materials, clothes, books, decorations for my house. I

usually go shopping with my parents because they can consult how I can by
suitably. I sometimes go shopping with my friends because we have the same
opinions. I often go shopping twice a month and Coopmart supermarket is a place
that I choose for shopping more often. I think that the quality of all products are
tested carefully; prices are fixed; there are many kinds of goods

 Do you often use a computer?
 I use my computer almost every day.
 What do you use your computer for?
 I use my computer to get my work done. Also, I use it for a variety of
personal use like watching movies, listening to music, and doing some online
shopping.
 How often do you go online?
 I suft the Internet every day and it’s about 3-4 hours a day.
 What do you use the internet for?
 I often read the news and search the information. The internet also helps me
stay in touch with my family, loved ones and friends on social media.
 What’s your favorite website?
 It’s Facebook. Because it also helps me stay in touch with my family, loved
ones and friends.
Part 2: Describe favorite website
Facebook is a social networking website. It's a free website that allows you to
keep in contact with friends or find people you've lost touch with. It's one of the
most popular websites in the world, with millions of users in different countries.
All of my friends use Facebook. One of my friends sent me an email inviting
me to join. I signed up and I've been using it ever since.
Facebook allows you to keep up to date with what friends are doing. You

have a profile page with information and status updates so that you can tell
everyone what you're doing. You can post messages to other people's pages. You
can upload photos and videos. I find Facebook most useful for organising my life,
keeping in touch with friends and storing photos. I think social networking websites
have become part of everyday life.


Daily Routine

 When do you usually get up in the morning?
At 5.30 am.
 What do you often do in the morning?
 In the morning, I usually go to work.
 What do you often do in the evenings?
 My family usually have dinner at 7:30 p.m. After dinner, we often watch TV
and play with our son.
 Do you prefer to spend your evenings with family or friends?
 Yes, it do. Because it’s time that all family member have dinner together and
talk about their day.
 Do you ever work or study at the weekend?
 Yes, sometimes I work at the weekend.
Part 2: Describe your typical working day.
Everyday morning, I get up at 5:30. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I
usually have breakfast at 6:30 a.m. I go to work by motorbike and be there at about
7:00 a.m. It takes me about 15 minutes from my house to get to my office. My
office starts at 7:00 am and we have a short meeting everyday. Then, I usually start
my work at 7:30 a.m. I stop at 11:30 a.m for my lunch and take a short rest. After
that, I back my work. In the afternoon, I finish my work at 5:30 p.m, then I go
home. My family usually have dinner at 7:30 p.m. After dinner, we often watch TV
and play with our son. After that, I always prepare my lessons plan and go to bed at

11:00 pm. On weekends, I usually go out with my family or friends.


Family & Friends

 Do you spend much time with your family?
 Yes, I usually try to spend most of the time with my family.
 Who are you closest to in your family?
 It is my farther. Because he teach me alot in my life.
 Do you prefer spending time with your family or friends?
 I don't know. Sometimes I want to spend time with my friends because
we have a lot of things in common and it's easy for us to find interesting
topics to talk about. But when I'm with my family, I can feel the love from
them, which make me feel safe and comfortable.
 Do you often go out in the evenings?
 Yes, I do. I often go out with my family to have dinner at the seafood
restaurant and then, we go to the coffeeshop to meet our friends.
 What do you like to do when you go out?
 I like going to the restaurant and have a big meal, go shopping or go to the
coffee shop.
 Do you prefer going out on your own or with friends?
 I prefer hanging out with friends. Because it’s happier and there are alot of
activities to do with your friends.
Part 2: Describe your best friend
Khai and I were teammates in our school’s soccer team, and that is the reason
we became best friends. At first we did not know each other, but we quickly
became close after just a few weeks. Khai is a good player, so he always helps me
practice to improve my skills. He is intelligent and has a humorous way of talking.
That is the reason why we became close so quickly. He is very hardworking. Every
day he tries to successfully complete the assigned tasks. I am as tall as Khai, and

many people say that we look like brothers. In fact, we are even closer than
brothers. We can share almost everything. I am always proud of our friendship, and
we will keep it like this as long as we can.


Music

 Yes, I do. I listen to music every day.
 What’s your favorite type of music?
 I like pop music and bolero.
 Can you sing?
 No, I can’t.
 Did you learn music at school?
 Yes, I learnt music at secondary school.
 If you could learn a musical instrument, what would it be?
 If I could learn a musical instrument, it would be guitar.
 Do you think music is important?
 Yes, because it help connect everyones together and make you feel relax.
Part 2: Describe your favorite singer
My favorite singer is My Tam, she is one of the most famous singer in
Vietnam because of her beauty and talent. She was about thirty-five years old, but
she looks younger than her age very much. She really is a dynamic and positive
people. Today, the number of singers Vietnam is growing fast, but she was still very
popular. For me, My Tam is a great artist. When I listen to her songs, I feel his
emotion in every song and it gives me a special feeling. Many of her songs have
become part of my life and my memory. My mind is my most favorite singer


Sport

Part 1: Answer the following questions.
 Do you like sports?
 I am not a big fan of sports but I do like being active to stay in shape.
Regular exercise helps me maintain a healthy and happy life.
 What’s your favorite sport?
 I do quite a lot of sport actually. I play football mostly - on Wednesday nights
and Sunday afternoon with a local team.
 Do you often watch sport on TV?
 Not much really! I get bored easily. I always try to avoid watching sports
unless it’s an exciting or important event, like the World Cup.
 Did you play sport as a child?
 Of course. When I was a child, I play football, go swimming with my friend.
 What is the most popular sport in your country?
 Well, I guess in Vietnam right now, it’s football. I think football is considered
the king of sports. I think it’s a competitive sport, it can be very enjoyable
to watch and play.
Part 2: Describe your favorite sport
My favourite sport is badminton. It's a wonderful and healthy team sport.
Because each team can have 1 or 2 players. It depends on how you play so it can
have 2 or 4 players. If you want to play, you'll need rackets and a shuttlecock with a
badminton net. A team hit the shuttlecock and the other team blocked the demand
curve, hit it again. When one team miss the shuttlecock, the other team have 1
point. Which team have 21 points first will win a round. If 20-20, they will play
until one team more 2 points than the other team. If 29-29, which team reached 30
first will win that round. They choose badminton court by tossing the coin. Team
win will choose badminton court and hit the shuttlecock first. They will change it
when the round end. I very like this sport because is very fun and exciting. It makes
me healthy, strong, and relax after stressful classes at the school. That's why I like
this sport so much.
TV

Part 1: Answer the following questions.
 Do you often watch TV?


 I watch TV every day and it’s nearly 2-3 hours per day.
 What program do you watch on TV?
 I often watch the news, gameshow, reality show and so on.
 What is your favorite TV program?
 “7th Wish” is my favourite TV program. It is a program deeply humane,
bring affection of society as well as the editor for of the people unlucky in
life.
 Do you ever watch foreign programs or films?
 Yes, I do. I mostly watch Korean films. The Korean films that I have
watched till date have been mostly romantic comedies or purely romantic.
Part 2: Describe your favorite TV program
“7th Wish” is my favourite TV program. It is a program deeply humane,
bring affection of society as well as the editor for of the people unlucky in life.
There is a story, which I always find most impressive is the story of a 15-year-old
baby brought in his centuries HIV disease since the child was born, the child
always dream that people are living happy, seems no stigma people with HIV and
the child is dreaming a time see the sea. To his dream into reality, the program
editors tried to be the child's dream is place very unexpectedly and most wonderful.
With try of editor the child had more believe in this life. 7th Wish is a reality show,
the program has made a lot of people dream to life one finds more meaningful.
