Intro

By The Waters Edge: 75 Original Poems is filled
with excitement from cover to cover. Most of
these poems were written at
www.poetryvine.com/lynne/forums If you are a
poet or lover of the art, this site is very highly
recommended. Through the inspiration of these
fine people I wrote this poetry with a variety of
topics and emotions. Some were written just for
fun, others by request of members, a few were
inspired by their comments, a couple through

games, challenges and artwork and the rest are
from my old stash. I am sure you will enjoy
reading these just as much as I loved writing
them. So relax by your favorite waters edge and
enjoy your journey through this poetic world.

My Castle
24 Aug 04

I moved into my first castle today,
It was already my home;
But through the power of a lovely friend,
It became a greater place to roam.

I feel so blessed in many ways,
With all my friends right here;
If ever you need a place to sleep,
My castle door will be somewhere near.

You are always welcome,
No matter what your intentions;
I will offer what I can,
You may let down your inhibitions.

No one here will hurt you,
These castle walls are strong;
If ever you thought you didn't have one,
You now have a place where you belong.

My knights fight battles with love,
And we have never lost;
If you join our cause,
We will protect you at all costs.

The towers swirl with poetry,
No prisoners are ever taken;
Our pride is high, our love is strong,
This castle can not be shaken.

Fright Filled Night
24 Sept 04

Greetings Friends and Fiends,
Here goes a poem for Halloween;
It's sure to be an awful fright,
So grab your loved ones and hold on tight!

The night is coming,
For chills and scares;
When the zombies rise,
Will you be there?

Witches cast spells,
On this unholy night;
Vampires appear from mist,
Oh yes, they love to bite.

Flaming pumpkins are tossed,
At unsuspecting heads;
Boogie men jump out,
From under your bed.

Goblins do some gobbling,
And it is not on candy or sweets;
Even the Fairies are scary,
As they pull several tricks and give out no treats.

The succubus are out searching,
For some very tasty souls;
The guardian at Hells' gate,
Isn't even charging a toll.

The ghost are out haunting,
This is their back to Earth day;
Even the candy,
Wants your teeth to decay.

10
So this Halloween,
When you think it is just a kid;
Remember these creatures,
And all the things did.

Open the door with caution,
Then lock all locks;

You never know when the real Demons,
Will visit your block!

Just For Fun
Written for you fine folks on 13 Sept 04

I want to play,
A foolish little game;
I remembered this place,
But forgot your name.

Oh well,
It doesn't matter says I;
We found a way,
To give something new a try.

Have you become the apple of my eye?
Or the apple pie, I stole off your window while
walking by?

I got lost along the way,
But I found some good things;
Did you ever know,
That ugly people sure can sing!

What were we talking about?
Oh yea, that peach cobbler;

Go get the stuffing,
And I'll go catch the gobbler.

Have you become the twinkle in my eye?
Or just the rain, washing them off when they get
dry?

I like this little journey,
But it is time to come to an end;
Did I make you smile a little?
Glad to hear it my friend!

12
What else can we eat?
Hey weren't we going to try some cake?
Oh, no I remember now,
Open the oven our ice cream pie isn't supposed
to get baked!

Have you become heaven in my sky?
Or was the twinkle in my apple pie that I lost
while walking by?

Promises Kept
9 Oct 04

I promised I would come,
Now I have been awaken;
Soon to creep through this land,
Taking what I am owed.

You have something of mine,
I have come to collect;
You can gently submit,
Or have it ripped from you.

I am now your father,
Bow before me faithful child;
Do not hesitate,
For you chose your own path.

What are those tears in your eyes?
Why do shake in fear?
You knew I would return,
The deal can not be broken.

Stand up you coward!
You are disgusting me.
You seemed so noble,
When we first met.

Did the power go to your head?
Did you think I would forget?
Perhaps you thought we could battle,

And you would have a chance to win.

Remember what I told you,
And know this full well;
I only gave a little to you,
And kept the rest for myself.

Pure Fire
8 Oct 04

I am born of fire,
In many different lights;
Brighter than the exploding sun,
I shall always shine.

As a younger child,
I rarely controlled my flames;
Now that I am wiser,
My fires burn pure.

I spread my love,
Through poetry and more;
A warm, embracing glow,
Will surround your heart.

Take my hand,
You shall never be alone;

I welcome many,
In these kingdoms I rule.

Walk beside me,
And you shall walk an enlightened path;
With no worries,
Of being steered in the wrong direction.

I offer protection,
Under my dragon wings;
And if need be back it up,
With the arrow in my bow.

Bursting flames engulf,
Those attacking my art;
And anyone choosing to harm,
My castle walls of friends.

15
I am born of fire,
In many different lights;
Always growing brighter,
As I become more intense.

Warning
8 Oct 04

I am into many things,
many worlds,
I accept the powers given to me
from many different beings.

I do not deny the Lord,
nor do I deny the Ancients.
I bow before no one,
for this is my own sacred realm.

If what I choose is wrong,
then why must I have the ability to choose?

If those I lead should not follow,
then why must they have the ability to walk?

If what I create should not be felt,
then why must man have a heart?

If I am not to own this world,
then why was I put here to begin with?

This is my sacred realm,
I do not ask you to bow.
Just respect the world around you
and feel my loving power.

If you are here to hurt the innocent;
I assure you,

my guilt will eat your heart.

If you are here to feed on the weak;
my strength will in time devour you.

If you are here to take from the poor;
my riches will bury you.

17
If you are here –
for anything other –
than the love of my art –
leave now –
before your soul is forever lost.

Designated Driver
25 Sept 04

I am a designated driver,
For some customers that are at the bar;
I am even driving their truck,
Because today I have no car.

The bar should be closing soon,
At least that is good luck;
For doing this for them,
They gave me twenty bucks.

I am about to fall asleep,
Just hope I don't do it at the wheel;
Because then for those 3 guys,
It would be a pretty messed up deal.

It is already after two,
They should have called by now;
Maybe they lost the number,
Or even forgot how.

I guess it is time to go,
I will have to check on them;
To think they were forgotten,
Would probably feel pretty grim.

A Happy Little Poem
7 Oct 04

I walked outside for a moment,
And saw a happy day;
There were people driving by,
All looked to have smiles on their face.

Actually I could not see them,
But I imagined in my mind;

That they were on the way,
To a beautiful place.

Some would go see family,
They had not seen in quite some time;
While others would take their children,
For a fun day in the park.

A few would go shopping,
For that perfect Christmas gift;
A couple would escape,
For a quiet moment alone.

A little puppy would be picked up,
From his prison in the pound;
Flowers would be photographed,
Giving them Eternal life.

A movie will be seen,
Causing much missed laughter;
Dinner would be delivered,
To a poor man on the street.

Music will be found,
Later to be danced to;
Candles would be sampled,
For that romantic picnic by the lake.

20

Birds would be uncaged,
So they could fly free again;
And a lonely little boy,
Would be reunited with his father.

Damn
7 Oct 04

I never really cry,
Even when friends die;
However, this sad story,
Brought tears to my eyes.

To hear of a loving mother,
That just could not go on;
Knowing that her baby,
Her angel was gone.

My blessings I send,
Although they are not much;
To a brave and courageous man,
Who so many lives touched.

You will never be forgotten,

And your mother is on her way;
Although it broke more hearts,
Near you she will stay.

In the streets you battled,
Yet still showed your true heart;
And this my friend,
From others sets you apart.

I don't think I would,
Have been to able to be so kind;
In such a horrid place,
I would have gone blood blind.

Though your fate was tragic,
And there's not much I can say;
I hope that your Eternity,
Leads to the brightest of your days.

Let Me Cry On Your Shoulder Again
9 Oct 04

Let me cry on your shoulder again,
A friend said to me;
You have been there before,
Will you be here now please?

She left me for nothing,

Or maybe it was something;
Whatever it is,
She didn't even tell me.

I came home last night,
The whole house was empty;
She left me nothing,
But rooms full of dead memories.

Things were going so well,
Or at least I thought;
I went to my job,
And came straight home.

I gave her my money,
I built her a house;
We had a few kids,
And a brand new car.

She always went shopping,
Had her own T.V.;
A closet full of shoes,
And just about everything.

I told her I loved her,
Before I left everyday;
And held her tight,
When I later came back.

23
We went so many places,
And saw so many things;
Now where she has gone,
I may never know.

I finally responded,
To my broken hearted friend-

Your wife came by here last night,
With a big smile on her face;
I was supposed to tell you,
She is waiting for you at your new home.

24
The Sudden Move
10 Oct 04

As I sit in contemplation,
Watching the lake snow melt;
I look upon my brand new home,
Slowly being built.

Oh how I miss my castle,
And the Unicorns around;
Although this place is beautiful,
I feel so alone.

I know I am being impatient,
But why did we move so soon;
We could have maybe waited,
Till they finished our bedroom.

At least then we could cuddle,
And the cold would not get through;
Instead I sit here chilly,
Just waiting and watching.

What Keeps Me Going
10 Oct 04

What keeps me going,
When I am down;
Is all the beauty,
That is always around.

The dreams that come true,
Every morning I wake up;
To a lovely lady,
Even without her make up.

My son and family,
And the good times they bring;
When just hanging out,
And listening to blue birds sing.

I remember the Alamo,
And the men who fought;
So that we may live freedom,
That can not be bought.

The poetry I find,
On this lovely site;
And the people who bring,
Every day and night.

The pictures and castles,
That I adore;
And the knowledge,
Soon there will be more.

All these and more,
Keep me going;
But most of all,
That our poetic souls are growing.
