Overpopulation in many major urban centres around the world is a major problem. What are
the causes of this? How can this problem be solved?
In recent times, a significant rise in population has been witnessed in at large cities all over the
world, including New York and London. This is mainly because of migration; however, several
actions could be taken to tackle this problem. The following essay will discuss in detail the
causes of such a trend and provide possible solutions to the problem.
Firstly, there are a variety of reasons that lead to the overpopulation phenomenon in major city
centers around the globe. Most importantly, big cities offer more opportunities to find jobs that
are highly paid. Since many businesses are based in urban districts, workers have to relocate to
these areas in search of better jobs, and a better standard of living. As a consequence, urban
centers will even be more overpopulated due to this migration. Moreover, another explanation
for the population booming in mega-cities is the better availability and access to educational
and medical services which undoubtedly benefits everyone, ensuring better health and future
prospects for children. It means that their quality of life will be improved significantly in order to
gain a sense of satisfaction. For example, numerous urban hotspots over the world, including
Tokyo, and Paris have recently experienced a surge in the number of migrants looking for
higher-paid jobs and higher-quality services for themselves and for their children.
In order to minimize the burdens in mega-cities, the best remedy to solve this problem would
be to improve the quality of life in the countryside. This means that governments should invest
in improving the quality of medical, educational, transportation and entertainment services. Not
only will this provide a better standard of living, but also facilitate the chances of getting a stable
and high-paid job. Furthermore, it is also advisable that nations should decentralize and
redistribute these services to remote areas so as to prevent migration. In fact, numerous cities,
including Hanoi, have already adopted this strategy in order to reduce the population within the
urban centers by constructing state-of-the-art hospitals and top universities in the rural regions
of the city.
In conclusion, the government should tackle the problem of overcrowding in urban areas by
focusing more on the development of rural areas. If villages are developed, then people in the
mega-cities would be relieved of the problem of congestion in their cities.

Global warming is one of the biggest threats humans face in the 21st Century, and sea levels

are continuing to rise at alarming rates. What problems are associated with this and what are
some possible solutions.
One of the most terrifying threats to humanity is global warming, causing sea levels to continue
to rise at daunting levels. This essay will discuss the issues related to this phenomenon and

suggest possible solutions. Firstly, the most noticeable issue of rising sea levels is causing severe
flooding. If the sea rises by two feets, this means millions of houses will either be flooded or
submerged in water because most residential and industrial cities over the world are located
along the coastlines. Consequently, this could potentially lead to a dire result in which millions
of people will be homeless and out of jobs and therefore, it would become more challenging for
any government to recover. For example, in 2011, a deadly tsunami hit the shore of the town of
Fukushima, Japan, causing massive destruction to the infrastructure and accommodation; which
led to an emergency evacuation since the nuclear reactor of a power plant was exposed and
damaged. This resulted in a huge number of locals being jobless and without a home as the
government was not able to compensate for their losses.
In order to resolve the aforementioned issue establishing flooding prevention systems, such as
floodgates, dams, and flood barriers would be able to solve the problem in the short run. This
would prevent seawater from spreading into densely populated areas. As a result, it provides
significant protection against rising tides. For instance, Holland is one of the five countries
forecasted to be most affected by rising sea levels. As a method to alleviate the problems, the
Netherlands has constructed an elaborate drainage system, including dams, dykes along the
country to prevent seawater from intruding and causing massive flooding. Until now, the system
has been tried and tested, which yielded a positive result.
To sum up, it is clear that high ocean levels caused by climate change could create a dreadful
impact on people's lives and residence. Nevertheless, it can be resolved by building a robust
flooding prevention system.
