New Accelerated Program Development Form
Bachelor’s to Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)
Accelerated Programs allow academically qualified students to complete an undergraduate Bachelor’s degree and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree on an
accelerated timeline, graduating sooner than in traditional programs.
Development Process:

Program Description (provide a brief description
of the program. Do not include requirements,
just what the program is about, highlights, etc.)

This program intends for students to complete a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences
(College of Arts and Sciences) and a Doctor of Pharmacy (USF Health College of
Pharmacy) over the span of seven (7) years. The Honors College will provide
oversight of the student’s progress in meeting Honors requirements and will
coordinate overall completion of the first three years (i.e., undergraduate
component) of the program. Students will receive advisement and schedule
planning assistance each semester from a Chemistry department advisor and an
Honors College pre-health professional advisor. The USF COP will provide
oversight of the four-year professional component of the PharmD curriculum.

Curriculum Requirements
GPA Requirements
Programs must establish a minimum undergraduate GPA requirement of at
least 3.33 overall and a minimum GPA requirement of 3.50 in the major,
having taken a minimum of 15 hours in the undergraduate major, for
students to be admitted to an accelerated program. Note what your
Program requirements will be (may be more restrictive, but not less
than what’s noted above)
Students must have a minimum of a “B” (3.00) in each graduate course.
Consequences for not obtaining at least a “B” in each graduate course must
be noted in the Departmental Accelerated Program requirements. Note
what the Program’s policy will be for students who earn less than a
“B” in a graduate course (University Policy allows for courses with “C”
or higher count toward graduate degree requirements, with an overall
and program GPA requirement of 3.00)

GPA Requirements

Grade Point Average (GPA); GPAs are not rounded.
USF overall and science GPA of 3.50 or higher at the completion of
the spring semester of Year 1.
USF overall and science GPA 3.50 or higher at completion of Year 2.

USF overall and science GPA of 3.50 or higher at completion of Year
3.
If students transfer in a GPA from dual enrollment or transient
coursework completed at another institution, the overall and
science GPAs from all coursework completed at USF must also be a
3.50 or higher.
Policy for where a student earns less than a “B” in a graduate Course:

Students must maintain a per-semester and overall GPA of 2.00 in
order to successfully matriculate and remain enrolled in the College
of Pharmacy. The minimum course grade will be a C (GPA = 2.00).
Course failure will be defined as the receipt of an F (GPA = 0.00),
and will require review by the Academic Review and Professional
Student Affairs Committee.
The COP has incorporated an ‘early warning’ mechanism to identify
students experiencing academic difficulties. Course coordinators
will review student progression at the midpoint of each semester,
and notify students who are performing at a less than acceptable
level (i.e., course grade at or less than C equivalent).
The mid-point grades will be submitted to the ADAA, Department
Chairs, and the Academic Review and Professional Student Affairs
Committee (ARPSAC), who in turn will notify the students of a need
to prepare a plan of action. The plan of action will be developed
with and approved by the faculty advisor and course coordinator
and then submitted to ARPSAC.

Typically, up to twelve (12) hours of graduate credit may be shared
between the graduate and undergraduate degree. Although, with Graduate

Council and Graduate School approval, programs may offer accelerated
programs with more shared credits.

Up to twelve (8) hours of graduate credit may be shared between the
graduate and undergraduate degree.
