Why read on?
Let’s clear the bull. Everyone knows there are more failure-ridden schemes than successful plans
on the Internet. More dreams dashed than supported and nurtured to fruition.
This is a guide of useful insights into how to succeed in the online world. It isn’t just like every
other book you’ve read on the subject. It
is similar in some respects. You’ll be told how it has
been done –
but we won’t be glossing over facts.
Internet Marketing, and Online R.O.I. are HARD. Working at a gas station for the rest of your life
is easy. Making money on the Internet is HARD. But there’s much more money-making
potential, and if you succeed, you have the possibility of becoming a millionaire.
O.K. O.K. Millionaire. Got it.
You’re right. You probably won’t succeed quite to this point. You’ll hear this figure from
time to time: 99% of people who attempt to make money on the Internet don’t follow
through.
No scientific study of this has been made that I’m aware of, but it is true that most people
just download, or at most, glance at the eBooks I or others offer on the subject of Internet
Marketing. Nobody succeeds unless they follow through to the result.
Those that do read all the articles and eBooks out there and follow through manage to
increase traffic to their web sites. I for one am an example of this very thing.
Yazooy.com started out in February 2005 with maybe 100 hits a month with my half-
hearted attempts at marketing. Most of these pageviews were me, myself, and I.
December 2005, I researched online marketing with a vengeance, and January 2006
began marketing using techniques found on just a handful of marketing sites. Within 2

months, I had over 100 pageviews a day. And the views weren’t me.
By March, I had 800-1200 unique visitors per day.
This isn’t to say that I was making a ton of money. For every 1,000 visitors, I’d have 1
customer signup for service. Every other signup translated into sales. This totaled $50-
200 every month… Pretty good for spending money, or to pay on the car.
However, Yazooy.com sold nothing but Adobe Photoshop styles at the time. Talk about
your specific niche.
The point is, you CAN get traffic. You CAN make sales.
If I can receive that much traffic, and at least a few sales in a very narrow niche market, I
believe whole-heartedly that you should be able to do at least as well.
To start things off, I’ll be sharing with you a number of articles I have published either in
my Yazooy.com/Blog or on BestOnlineWeb.Info – the very “secrets” that led to my web site’s
dramatic traffic boost. I’m sure it’ll be a help to you, because it was to me.

Getting Rich Quick
By Raymond C. Dukes
1/22/2006
As anyone reading this article undoubtedly knows, becoming a millionaire is hard
work. I, personally am fed up with "Get Rich Quick" schemes that don't work.
There are some methods in turning the vast riches of the Internet into money in
your pocket, but nothing is as simple as placing some content on one web site
and some Google AdSense links.
You'll receive money in this way, but you won't "Get Rich Quick". In this article,

we will examine the ways that work rather than the dozens of phony pyramid
schemes and fake RagstoRiches sites aimed at selling you more products.
StepbyStep Blueprint of Making Money Online
As you may imagine, there are several methods of making money online, but all
of them will fall apart if you don't have the appropriate infrastructure and attack
plan. Your first step in making money is creating a strategy.
Here are some suggested steps in composing that strategy:
1. Pick a MoneyMaking Plan
Decide what type of moneymaking plan is doable for you. You may not
be able to implement them all, or any of them.
2. Break Everything Down
Break it into simple terms and focus on specific tasks, one at a time.
3. Assign Jobs
Apply the jobs for specific aspects of the plan to specific people.
4. Decide on an Advertising Plan
Proper Advertising is necessary since people need to know about your
goods or services to purchase them.
5. This is the big one 
Carry Everything Out.
1. Picking a MoneyMaking Plan
There are dozens if not hundreds of moneymaking opportunities. Money
making opportunities that work, not moneymaking schemes that fail  there are
- 7 -

more of those. To succeed, be realistic and pick those that you know you can
carry out to fruition. Overwhelming yourself will only breed failure.
Below are a list of the plans that are proven to make money. Not all plans are
listed since there are hundreds, but some of the more popular ones are.
1. Open a RoyaltyFree Article Website with or without editing rights
(with is usually considered better).

Either with a membership fee, or with advertisements such as AdSense
and affiliates.
2. Create a Coupon Website with associated advertisements and
possibly AdSense ads.
3. Create a Niche Website with news and good information on a single
topic.
Monetize it with AdSense and similar programs.
Remember to optimize the articles for better ad clickthrough rates
whenever possible.
4. Advertise ClickBank (and similar) Affiliates through AdWords.
You advertise and gain commissions  be advised that you may need to
invest heavily and that there is a chance of large losses as well as large
gains.
5. Create a Marketing Website that offers information such as eBooks
on optimizing profits.
You either need access to a RoyaltyFree content site, or need to spend
long hours researching and/or doing Internet Marketing.
Remember to offer an Affiliate program (5075% commissions are
considered good selling points.)
6. Write a Computer Program and Market it Online
There are largescale problems with Spam, Viruses, Worms, AdWare,
SpyWare, and other malicious programs.
Creating something to combat these threats and marketing it properly can
mean enormous profits.
There are many other programs that are popular: P2P software, MP3
software, etc.
- 8 -
Copyright  2006 Raymond C. Dukes, See www.Yazooy.com for the most recent version.
Remember to use Royalty Free Software Code to speed production 
but give credit to writers.

7. Create an Online store
Offer downloadable products whenever possible, dropship through a
warehouse if you can.
Remember that a decent dropshipper doesn't charge monthly fees.
It's also best to go with someone reliable and with a low cut on sales.
If you're making 200 sales a month with only a profit of $2, you should
probably look elsewhere for a dropshipper or close the store.
8. Viral and Startup Websites
There are no viruses on these websites, they're called "Viral" because
links to your site multiply like crazy.
Opening a site that helps push traffic to your site and customers' sites will
undoubtedly see a lot of traffic (again, remember to market it properly.)
By having links to your other moneymaking sites, and having a few
unobtrusive advertisements on it, you can gain revenue.
9. Pixel Advertisement Sites
Pixel websites are a fad popular as of the writing of this article.
Creating your own can insure good profits over the short term.
Remember to create your with some sort of twist in comparison to other
sites so that yours stands out.
If possible, you can add a small pixel board to some of your other
websites.
You could also monetize your own free pixel ad website.
2. Break Everything Down
As with any job, you have to break everything down to a stepby step process
and todo list. If this is done and followed, it is less likely that a person attempting
all this will become overwhelmed and have a panic attack. Take your time in
following the process, most businesses take time.
3. Assign Jobs
If you have more than one person attempting to complete the project, dividing
the project down to basic tasks and assigning them out can lessen the burden

- 9 -

on a single person. The only problems with this are that all people concerned
have to be competent, and people committed to the project.
4. Decide on an Advertising Plan
Okay, Scheme is the wrong word. Again, your plan is a strategy you absolutely
need and need to follow through.
There are hundreds or thousands of Advertising opportunities. You need to
identify which of them will give you not only visitors to your websites, but which
marketing strategy will give you ROI. Return On Investment is an absolute must.
If you receive 100,000 clicks to your site per day, but 0% revenue, the
advertising is not successful.
The Advertising methods everyone thinks about includes Google SEO (Search
Engine Optimization), Google AdWords Advertising, Overture Yahoo! Search
Marketing, and Link Exchanges.
SEO
Let me tell you now that Google SEO doesn't give you sales. It only gives you
clicks  YOU CANNOT RELY ENTIRELY ON SEO.
A truly large company or popular site will have 100,000 to 1,000,000 clicks per
day. Most people won't have nearly that many. We can assume you'll have 100
to 150,000 visits per day if you are #1 on Google, depending on the subject;
some obscure subjects may have far fewer clicks. We are almost certainly not
going to get #1 on Google. There are millions of web sites now on each and
every subject imaginable. A large number of those are attempting to get the #1
spot. You're going to be lucky to be on the first 10 pages.
Search Engine Advertisements
Google AdWords and Overture Yahoo! Search Marketing (and similar programs
through other search engines) usually only gives clicks and will suck your
revenue up with costs. YOU CANNOT RELY ENTIRELY ON YAHOO OR
GOOGLE ADS.

I know what I'm talking about, I've run Google and Yahoo ads and optimized
them for thousands of clicks per day for targeted audiences and received far
more clicks and costs than revenue. Let me elaborate (bear with me, there are a
lot of numbers).
- 10 -
Copyright  2006 Raymond C. Dukes, See www.Yazooy.com for the most recent version.
On a whole, .1% clickthrough on Google is considered "good" and 1% click
though is possible.
That's roughly between 1:1000 and 1:100 clicktoimpression ratio.
Let's say you have 100,000 impressions. That's 100 visits at most. If you are
using AdSense as well, you are likely getting up to 2% clickthroughs.
That's normally what? $0.10 to $1.25 per day (1 or 2 clicks) on a site with 100ish
visits per day. About $3  $37.50 per month.
We're spending between $10 and $12 per day on those ads more than likely. If
we increase that to between $100 and $120 for our AdWords/Overture
daily
budget, we get between $30 and $350 per month.
See the problem?
More Cost per day than revenue per day. This doesn't mean that you should
automatically drop Google or Yahoo Ads. You may make a good conversion rate
for sales on your Internet Store, but then again, you may not. You'll have to track
this yourself since every store is different. Yahoo and Google both give tracking
code freely to you, and there are other tracking programs that you can purchase
that are well worth it (remember to make sure they adhere to your search engine
advertiser's stipulations in their license agreement). I find AdSense Gold helpful.
Keywords can be optimized throughout your website to increase the revenue per
click on AdSense as well. It is beyond the scope of this article to supply all the
words, but there are definitely keyword phrases that give you $75 per click. $75
per clicks will almost definitely pay for a 2Adclickperday web site's AdWords
and Yahoo advertising.

Audiences must also be targeted. Not only people who are most likely to like the
website you are advertising, but people most likely to click the ads. Many Google
and Yahoo users that click the ads off of the main search engine, or use one or
the other to find your site, are tech savvy. Tech Savvy people are usually pretty
tired of ads and can seem to spot them a mile away. These people are almost
certainly not going to click your AdSense Ads even if they click your AdWords
Ads. Depending on your site audience, they may also be more or less tech savvy
and therefore more or less likely to click the ads.
Link Exchanges
Link exchanges occur when one site places an ad or link to your site on theirs,
and you reciprocate with an ad or link to theirs on your site. Reciprocal links
such as these are sometimes considered bad for SEO, but can be good for
- 11 -

directing traffic to your site. Other forms of link exchanges include Link Farms,
which are definitely bad for SEO. Link farms are sites with thousands of links to
other sites. Startup websites and viral websites also post links for your pages in
exchange for a link to either them, or another site. Search engines may frown
upon these as well.
Other Methods
Other methods include Advertising on Other Sites, creating Affiliates, placing
links in Public Directories, Newsletters and Mailing List, Chat Rooms and Blogs,
and Print Ads.
MSN is the Default Web Homepage to Windows users, as is AOL.com and
similar ISP homepages. People who are not tech savvy are more likely to keep
the homepage of their browser set to these pages. To make the most of click
throughs, people can advertise on these, and the search engines that those
home pages use. This is certainly a less scrupulous way of advertising, but you
are advertising on web pages and search engines anyway, you might as well
make the most of it.

Creating Affiliates in which you give a percentage of sales can drive other people
to advertise for you. This can be a good thing, but there is a possible downside.
People may use unethical advertising methods which will brand you as a
spammer or worse. It is a necessity to place a policy agreement before signing
people up as affiliates to your site.
Placing Links in Public Directories is a plus. They are similar to search engines,
but instead of spider indexing, the links are entered by humans by hand.
Newsletters and Mailing List are methods with a bad name. Many people place
websites and email addresses on spam lists when they receive on of these. As
someone that has had to deal with getting off a blacklist, it's an extreme hassle.
To lessen the possibility of being blacklisted, send emails out one at a time
rather than sending to several people in the same address line. Also, make sure
only to send to people who subscribe, add an optout link, and don't use any
obvious spam words in your messages and body content. Use images if at all
possible for the majority of your text, but keep some "clean" text in the email.
Also, don't send anything to AOL if possible. AOL is very bad at adding people
indiscriminately to blacklists based on users accidentally adding your newsletters
to spam boxes.
All this said, Newsletters are still good for sales. If you send out to 1 million
people, you may get thousands of sales. If you send to Thousands of people,
you may at least get a few.
- 12 -
Copyright  2006 Raymond C. Dukes, See www.Yazooy.com for the most recent version.
Chat Rooms and Blogs are good for traffic when done consistently and well. Tips
on Blogs could fill a whole new article, but feel free to research this method with
Google.
Print Ads Newspapers, Magazines, Fliers, Mailers, Want Ads, and Specialty
Newsletters. Print Ads are a whole other ballgame  one that hardly anyone who
is an Internet marketer thinks of. A large percentage of people still read printed
ads and articles. You can take advantage of this!

5. Carry Everything Out
You'll see it time and again  people get as far as planning everything, but don't
follow through.
If you don't actually push yourself to complete the plan and see everything
through, you've spent manhours  possible time you could have been making
money on something else  and received no return. You may have even spent
money implementing half of the project, or even 90% of the project, but if you
don't complete it, there is 0% chance of profit. Not only this, but you may not
have truly applied yourself, which can be seen as a personal failure.
If you have to give yourself a treat on completing a certain task, or percentage of
the project to get through the whole thing, then I would recommend doing so.
Okay, so we have an idea now of what we want our website to be about, and that it takes
some hard work to do it. We also have a few ideas on how to advertise the site, and what
will and won’t work.
The next article gives some more information on the basics of Internet Marketing in
general, and SEO specifically.

Internet Marketing Basics
By Raymond C. Dukes
6/11/2006
Today, let's explore the basics of SEO.
Know Your Enemy
When you are setting up your site, it is very important to first know your
competition. A big help in this is a software package called SEO Elite.
If you explore similar sites on the web related to your site, you can see how to
arrange your site better, what colors and design styles are prevalent, and how to
structure the code to your site for maximum performance.
Primarily, you Google for similar sites, explore the top sites, and write down what
you need to do to do it better. You can even check out their source code by

"view source" or "page source" in the browser menu. This will give you an idea
as to how the competition organized their code for better performance.
Optimize OnSite SEO
You particularly should know about this aspect of marketing  it's easy, and can
jump your position up in the search engines quite a bit.
1. The very first thing to learn is to use your title and alt tags.
The fewer the words in your page title, the better.
You can also use alt and title tags in images, title tags in links, and titles in
paragraphs, Divs, and spans.
2. Use Header tags  H1, H2, H3  if you don't like the default look of
those tags, you can always alter the look in your CSS styles (cascading
style sheets)
3. Use CSS files whenever possible to decrease style code in the actual
source code. (More on this another time)
4. Use JavaScript references rather than typing the JavaScript directly
into the page  this cuts down on code as well.
5. Arrange your page in such a way that the body of the page is higher up
in the code than the navigation and footer copyrights.
- 14 -
Copyright  2006 Raymond C. Dukes, See www.Yazooy.com for the most recent version.
This can be accomplished best using div layers.
6. Use meta tags  but keep them as short and concise as possible.
7. Check your keyword density  the keywords in your meta tags and
page title need to be checked in the main text of the page so that there
aren't too many, and aren't too few. There are keyword density tools freely
available (we'll discuss this another time).
8. Use Strong, Emphasis, and Underline on your keywords and phrases
throughout the text on your page  but only use one of the three on any
single keyword or phrase. Also only do so once  don't continue to
highlight a word or phrase in this fashion throughout the entire page. This

would annoy people and the search engines.
Advertise
People won't find your site unless you have links going to it. Link exchanges,
banner exchanges, Google AdWords, link directories, tag and ping (social
bookmarking), and BlogandPing methods are the most widely used.
To find out the links going into your competitor's sites, you should use Yahoo!
with the following syntax:
links:www.site.com
This will show most or all sites linking to your competitor. You can contact these
sites, or similar ones, and see if they will put links to your site as well.
Also, always remember not to submit to search engines using the submission
form  it's horribly slow (it takes months), and ineffective. It is better to use the
other methods listed above.
Finding the Right Keywords
Targeting the right audience is a big necessity. If you want to target search
engines, you need to gear your site towards keywords that you have a chance of
getting to the top of the search results with. This can be found by simply using
possible keywords in your searches in Yahoo! and Google. Once you find
keywords with a small competing result number, you'll have narrowed your
choices down.
- 15 -
Copyright  2006 Raymond C. Dukes, See www.Yazooy.com for the most recent version.
If you want to shoot in the dark, you can use these terms and see how many
people show up on your site through a year or so  if time isn't important to you.
The better way is to use software such as Goodkeywords
(
and SEO Analyzer (predecessor to Keyword Elite).
There are a few analyzers out there that are named 'SEO Analyzer', and can be
found easily on Google.
(Although I prefer the first program I used from Bryxen Software).

What you want to look for is a program you like that does the following:
Checks the keywords on several search engines for the number of competing
results, and which tell the number of times that keyword was searched.
If nobody is searching for the term, it's a worthless keyword. If there are too
many competing results, it’s a worthless keyword.
You'll notice that if you target a specific set of keywords, you'll also rise in the
associated terms anyway, so you'll be able to compete with the 'impossible'
results later  after you've made headway with the lesser results.
I hope that this helps you out, and I'll see you next time with more details.
Nice, eh? We now know that:
1. You need to scope out what your competition is doing so you can do it better.
2. You need to optimize your site’s source code so Google can read it well.
3. You need to have as many quality in-bound links to your site as possible.
4. You shouldn’t submit your site to Google, you should use Social Bookmarking
sites, the Blog and Ping Method, and link partners.
5. You should optimize what keywords your site uses.
Before we move on to the next article, let’s discuss Keywords a little more.
Many people use GoodKeywords, and/or SEOElite when choosing keywords. There are
also sites that advertise and sell high-payout keywords for people who are attempting to
make money using AdWords in their pages.
Although SEOElite is a superb program that I highly recommend, it isn’t the only choice.
For Keyword choices, for example, GoodKeywords.com is free. You can also use Google
AdWords’ keyword selection tool (you need an AdWords account), or Yahoo!’s
Keyword Selection Tool . The Google and Yahoo! Alternatives should be taken with a
grain of salt, however, since these are for keyword BIDS, not keywords that are
necessarily being searched. In addition, you’ll still need to take into account how many
people are competing against you in Google searches.
- 16 -
Copyright  2006 Raymond C. Dukes, See www.Yazooy.com for the most recent version.
The makers of SEOElite also now have a program called KeywordElite, which is more

helpful than SEOElite in the field of Keyword choices.
If You are lucky enough to have access to Google Analytics, or a similar service from
your ISP, then you can also look up what keywords people may have used to get to your
site already. This will help in both your meta tags, and in what keywords to target in your
ad campaigns (mostly Google/Yahoo!).
Speaking of Advertising, the next article is on some of the alternatives to the big search
engines.
Vortals
By Raymond C. Dukes
2/22/2006
What's a Vortal?
I can hear a lot of people asking that.
Vortals are also called "Vertical Industry Portals." Portals that display vertical
ads – PPC (pay per click) ads to targeted audiences.
Vertical ads are usually set up in a similar way to Google AdSense. The ads may
actually look EXACTLY like AdSense, in fact. The only real differences tend to
be that the advertisements have lower conversion rates, cheaper CPC (cost per
click), and are more likely to reach the top bid.
Although the Verticals have fewer people clicking the ads, since the ads are on
sites similar to the ad  Cat Food Ads on a cat site, sports memorabilia on a
sports site, etc.  clicks are more likely to result in sales.
The real importance of Vortals, however, comes in the form of Google
AdWords becoming unavailable to the general public.
AdWords and Yahoo! Search Marketing are currently available to everyone,
and are likely to stay so as long as you can afford the CPC. As you probably
know, the costs on Google AdWords usually go up. Everyone wants top position,
so that their ad is seen more than the others.
The problem with this comes with the advent of large companies using AdWords
to brand recognition. The goal becomes not sales, but just having the most
impressions.

Usually the cost of top rank is limited to the amount of sales that can be
generated  how much profit you make versus cost of advertising.
- 17 -
Copyright  2006 Raymond C. Dukes, See www.Yazooy.com for the most recent version.
When you are advertising for advertising's sake, you don't necessarily have a
budget. When you have thousands or millions of dollars at your disposal,
you can quickly control the CPC market on Google or Yahoo!
Enter Vortals.
Cheaper, smaller, larger in number, more available. It's already hard to get top
position on some keywords in the big search engines, but it CAN be easy in
Vortals.
Here are a few Vortal resources for you if you would like to give them a whirl:
/> />Note: CPM stands for Cost per Thousand. Usually for impressions – when people “see”
the ad, not necessarily click it. This question has come up more than once when people
have started out on CPC/PPC advertising and I thought I’d mention it now.
As we discussed earlier, there are many alternatives to AdWords and similar services.
One of the more popular methods is called “Social Bookmarking” – a method which far
outshines Vortals.
Our next set of Articles come from Blog entries made on the SEO and Internet Marketing
sections of Yazooy.

Tag and Ping, Blog and Ping
By Raymond C. Dukes
Wednesday, June 7. 2006
Blog and Ping
Blog and Ping is a method by which people are indexed by search engines
incredibly fast  usually within the first week or two. This method is much faster
than submitting a site to a search engine, which can take 3 or more months.
The method is fast and easy:

1. Add a Blog to the site
2. Create accounts in search engine home pages such as MyYahoo!
3. Create an RSS feed for the Blog (RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication)
4. Subscribe to the RSS feed so that it loads into the search engine home page
(MyYahoo! or similar)
5. Create Blog entries 3 times a week
Some Blog subscriber sites include:
- 19 -

Tag and Ping
Tag and Ping is also known as Social Bookmarking. It's a quick way to get a ton
of hits to your website.
Social Bookmarking websites are repositories of links similar to link directories
and search engines. Rather than sites being added by spider robots (like
Google), or added by individuals to a directory (such as
).
These tagging sites usually have a member login, and once logged in, allows
the surfer to bookmark a site while surfing. Each bookmark allows for a title, the
URL, a description of the site, and tags  keywords for the bookmark.
Some tagging sites also allow an image to be associated with the bookmark.
These are often viewed more than others  sometimes images stay on the
topmost search result page longer. Tagged images especially, which is why
Flickr.com has so much business.
Tags are used for searching the bookmarks. When a person enters the tag into
the search field on the tagging site, they receive search results much like
Google, but with those bookmarks that are "tagged" with the keyword.
This is great in theory, but in practice, many people spam with junk mail
bookmarks. Still, you can find some great sites you wouldn't otherwise find in a
search engine.

There are many more alternates to search engines. The next Blog article reviews a few of these. (This is the
first half, the second half of the article is continued later.)
Search Engines and more
by Raymond C. Dukes
6/25/2006
There are dozens if not hundreds of small search engines trying to make a niche
for themselves, there are 4 or 5 main search engines, there are dozens of social
bookmarking sites (again, 4 or 5 main ones), and hundreds of search directories
(1 or 2 impressive ones).
So where do we get started?
As we discussed earlier, you should never submit to one of the main search
engines manually. It's far better to use the tagging method, or the blogging
method. There are other methods available as well  including submitting to the
directories and smaller search engines.
First, let's go over what each of these types of listings are for those who forgot,
or don't know already.
Directories
 These are sites you can submit your website to manually, along
with a description and possibly some keyword tags or specific category section.
These are usually manually checked by an administrator, and approved or
declined based on that review. The placement in these directories can be free, or
paid. The BIGGY directory is Dmoz.org, there are a few others that many people
use, but if you are accepted into Dmoz, you should also appear in these. There
are also many smaller directories such as those found in the Yazooy free
directory Free Directory.
Search Engines
 As you should know, the main search engine everyone

focuses on is Google. There are many other search engines, including variations
of Google in other countries. Those engines in other countries tend to be more
lenient with Page Rank and placement. Those engines that aren't owned by
Google are those such as MSN.com, and AOL.com. MSN is important because
most people who buy a computer have their Internet homepage set to MSN.com
by default. AOL is important because it is one of the most popular ISPs in
America.
Search engines can have live people who review sites for quality regularly, as
well as inspect new submissions. Descriptions for sites in the search engine
listings tend to be reaped from the site itself  taken from the body text. Keywords
can be taken from body text by spider "robots" as well  programs that index

sites. Meta Tags can also be used for the keywords and descriptions as well.
If you do not submit your site to Google, the Google robot will most likely spider
your site, indexing it anyway  it just may take a few months to years due to the
current volume of websites. If you manually submit to Google, it may take
months to be approved for your indexing, again due to the volume of sites. Tag
and Ping, Blog and Ping, and Link Trades are better methods for being indexed.
Remember that placement of your site in search results in Google rely on not
only your content onpage, but Page Rank, and inbound links.
PR (Page Rank) can be found with help from the Google Toolbar, or similar PR
toolbars available from various sites. These can ironically be found in Google
search results.
There is also a site which provides PR buttons for your site or blog. As of this
publication, the link is:
/>Social Bookmarking
 Tagging sites, or social bookmarking sites, are sites
where people can submit sites they like or own, along with descriptions and
search keyword "tags". They usually show up in results of searches on the social

bookmarking site depending upon popularity of the bookmark, and the keyword
tags. A variety of sites were mentioned in the earlier posts, and a list of some of
the more popular ones can be found on the Yazooy product catalog page. Fark
,
Furl, Reddit, Del.icio.us, Blinklist, and Blinkbits have been helpful to me before.
OK so there we have it on the listings.
Let's discuss some of the places you can get some promotions real quick  this
goes towards inbound links and traffic generation. More inbound links, the
quicker you get indexed, the higher your placement in search engine results, and
the more traffic you are likely to obtain.
Press Release Sites
 There are many sites that will offer press releases, but
only a few will give you placement somewhere that your release can be seen 
well, for free anyway. Oh, and remember that anyone can make a press release
 you don't need a huge business to do so. One place I recommend for press
releases is Press Monkey.
Want Ads and Yellowpages
 Great places to get a free listing. You can find
these easily in Google or other searches. There seem to be more every day, and
are often for only one region or city in the U.S. , but you can find some that are
for everyone or anyone. You'll likely only get a dozen or so visits per month per
listing site, still, it's a good start. Also, if you are listed in enough of these, it can

equal a large number of pageviews.
Banner Sites
 Free or paid, watch out for the ones that have popups. The pop
ups often crash people's computers, so it isn't a good idea to do a banner
exchange with those that do allow them. For other banner sites, remember to
check conversion rates and whether the banners are free or not.

Pixel Sites
 There are sites you can add a small pixel banner, sprite, or button
to for either free or for up to $1 per pixel. These sites can have directories,
banner exchanges, link exchanges, and all manner of other options as well. Pixel
sites are often fun, images can be adult or childsafe in nature. Pixel sites can
generate either a huge number of hits, or a few hits. If you have placed ads on
many of these pixel sites, it can lead to an avalanche of traffic.
Paid Banners/ Flash Ads/ Links
 AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, Vortals,
and small advertising companies with websites as members are all good paid
ads. It is necessary to track these ads and their conversions closely to make
certain that they are paying off.
Link Exchanges
 Link Exchanges are big boosts in popularity. On search
engines, anyway. To find who is linking to who, you can load Yahoo.com and
use the search:
links:domain.com
Where domain.com is the site you are checking inbound links to.
There is also a free service you can add a link or button to in your Blog or site
which will tell you who links in. I found this one quite by accident.

There are several websites which will submit your link for free to various search engines.
Please remember that submitting your site more than once per month to the same search engine will most
likely ban your site from the search engine. Submitting to the search engines, at most, once every three
months is recommended. This usually isn’t necessary since once your site is in the search engines, it will
likely be indexed regularly by Spider programs.
Some of these free submission sites include:

In addition to these free services, most websites that offer submissions also offer a paid version of the
service with hundreds or thousands of search engines submitted to for a small fee.
Besides those listed above, I have used services such as Godaddy’s Traffic Blazer, and 1&1
’s Site Submit.
The search engines that paid services submit to change every day. Comparing how many thousands of
sites you can submit to in the paid services is a necessity. Comparing how many quality search
engines the service submits to is also a necessity.
The main point to remember with paid submissions, however, is that you usually don’t have to submit

but once – and that “Thousands of submissions” isn’t necessary. Most of the main search engines only
place weight on a few directories – Dmoz.org being the main one. If the directory has a PR (Page Rank) of
at least 2 (some say 3) it can weigh some towards inbound links, and therefore search results positioning.
From experience, only 5-20 clicks to my sites result from these lesser directories every month. Also, only 5
or so of these lesser directories made any contribution to my Google or Yahoo ranking. Still, some people
prefer to catch as many stray inbound clicks as they can.

In addition, I’ve included a list of several hundred link directories collected through various listings and
Google Searches. I’ve submitted many of my sites to several of these as well. Most of these directories
allow you to submit to for free. Please remember that link directories are created or taken down all the
time, and those that stay online may stop offering free placement for a period of time whenever they wish.
