B. Grammar

1. Unit 7: Recipes and eating habits
a. Quantifies ( Từ chỉ số lượng)
- a, an, some, any, a bag of, a tablespoon of, a bunch of…
b. Modal verbs in conditional sentences type 1:
- Thay vì dùng “ will” trong câu điều kiện loại 1, chúng ta có thể sử dụng các động từ khuyết thiếu như
can (sự cho phép, khả năng), may/might (có lẽ), must (cần thiết), should( lời khuyên).
If + S + V-Present simple( Hiện tại đơn), S+ will/can/may/might/should/muts+ V
2. Unit 8: Tourism
Articles (Mạo từ): a, an, the, zero article
a. a/ an: dùng cho danh từ đếm được số ít và các danh từ lần đầu tiên được nhắc đến.
Ex: I have a dog.
b. The:
- Khi người nghe và người đọc biết chính xác người nói hoặc người viết đang đề cập đến cái gì. Give me
the money
- Nói về các sự vật chỉ có một, là duy nhất: The Moon, the Sun….
- Nói về một danh từ đã được đề cập đến trước đó rồi. I have a dog. The dog is nice.
- Tên của các quốc gia như: The UK, The USA, the Philippines…
- Tên của các quần đảo, dãy núi, đại dương và sông: the Thames, the Red river….
c. Zero article:
- Với danh từ số nhiều hoặc danh từ không đếm được khi chúng ta nói về điều gì chung chung:
Passwords protect our personal information.
- Với các bữa ăn , ngày, tháng, thứ, năm và các dịp trong năm: I was born in 1990.
- Với hầu hết tên người và tên địa điểm. I live in Ha noi.


3. Unit 9: English in the world:
a. Conditional sentences type 2 (Câu điều kiện loại 2)
- Diễn tả một điều kiện trái với sự thật ở hiện tại. If I were there now, I would help her.

If + S + V-Past simple( QK đơn), S+ would/could+ V
b. Relative clauses (Mệnh đề quan hệ)
Mệnh đề quan hệ là mệnh đề phụ được nối với mệnh đề chính bởi các đại từ quan hệ (who, whom,
whose, which, that) hay các trạng từ quan hệ như (where, when, why). Mệnh đề quan hệ đứng ngay
đằng sau danh từ.
Eg: The man who lives next door is very friendly.

4. Unit 10: Space travel
a. Past simple and past perfect (Quá khứ đơn và Quá khứ hoàn thành)
b. Defining relative clauses (Mệnh đề quan hệ xác định)
- Dùng để bổ nghĩa cho danh từ đứng trước chưa được xác định rõ, nếu bỏ đi thì mệnh đề chính sẽ
khơng rõ nghĩa.
Ex: I saw the girl who/that helped us last week.
• LƯU Ý: Ta có thể bỏ đại từ quan hệ: WHO, WHOM, WHICH, THAT khi chúng làm tân ngữ

trong MĐQH xác định.
5. Unit 11: Changing roles in society
a. Future passive ( Bị động tương lai đơn) : S + will be+ PII
Ex: The house will be built next year.
b. Non-defining relative clauses ( Mệnh đề quan hệ không xác định)
- Dùng để bổ nghĩa cho danh từ đứng trước đã được xác định rõ (nó chỉ là phần giải thích thêm), nếu bỏ
đi thì mệnh đề chính vẫn rõ nghĩa (modify the antecedent which is clear in meaning, so it’s just an extra
information).
- Mệnh đề này ngăn cách với mệnh đề chính bằng dấu phẩy (use commas to separate with main clause)
.
Ta dùng mệnh đề quan hệ không hạn định khi:
+ Trước đại từ quan hệ có: this/that/these/those/my/her/his/…+ N
+ Từ trước đại từ quan hệ là tên riêng, danh từ riêng, vật duy nhất.
Ex: - My father is a doctor. He is fifty years old.
à My father, who is fifty years old, is a doctor.
- Mr. Brown is a very nice teacher. We studied English with him.
à Mr Brown, who we studied English with, is a very nice teacher.
6. Unit 12: My future career:
a. Although, Despite/In spite of ( Mặc dù)
- Although + Mệnh đề: Although I was late, I didn’t miss the bus.
- Despite/In spite of + N/ cụm N/ V-ing: Despite the rain, we went out.
b. Verb+ to V and V+-ing:
- Verb+ to V: agree, expect, tend, decide, promise, attempt, refuse……
Ex: I exepect him to pass the exam
- Verb+ V-ing: finish, admit, deny, avoid, keep, discuss, mind…
Ex: I have finished working on my project.

Changes in care giving roles
With the burden of financial support reduced, and with a changing concept of a father’s role, modern day
fathers tend to be more involved in children’s care giving. They are now spending more time and energy on their
children. Psychological research across families from all ethnic backgrounds suggests that the influence of a
father’s love and attention is as great as that of a mother’s. Fatherly love helps children develop a sense of their
place in the world, which helps their social and emotional development. Moreover, children who receive more
love from their fathers are less likely to have behavioural problems.
This trend is still increasing and its effects will become clearer and clearer in the future, especially in
traditionally male-dominated societies.
