Steering charge circuit oil enter the charge filter (25) through the right hand fitting.
Clean filtered charge circuit oil exits the filter at the left hand fitting and flows to the
pilot steering control and the steering pump.
A combination S•O•S and fluid sampling port (K) is installed on the inlet side of the
charge circuit filter base.
The implement pump (16) is mounted
to the lower left rear face of the torque
converter housing.
The Pilot Control Manifold (33) for the AccuGrade™ system is located below the
bank 4 valve stack behind the right hand lower interior trim panel.
Located inside the machine right fender outside compartment is the Hydraulic Pressure
Remote Test Port panel. Machine system pressures can be checked and monitored
here. The arrangement of the pressure ports on this panel are:
- D Pilot Supply.
- E Charge pump relief.
- A Implement pump discharge.
- SOS Oil Sampling.

- Y2 Left steer pilot.
- Y1 Right steer pilot.
- MA Right steer loop.
- MB Left steer loop.
- B Implement pump signal.

The pressure reducing manifold (15) is located inside the forward compartment on the
right fender and is situated outboard from the power train oil filter. Service points identi-
fied above are:
(HA) Implement pump discharge pressure test port.
(14) Accumulator.
(CP) Pilot supply pressure test port.
(S•O•S) Hydraulic oil sampling port.
(CPG) Accumulator pressure test port.
The implement hydraulic pump (1) is mounted to the rear of the flywheel housing, at the upper
left corner. High pressure supply oil to the implement valve stack is directed through a hose
that connects to the pump discharge port (B). High pressure supply oil to the pressure reduc-
ing manifold is directed through a hose that connects to the lower fitting (C) from the pump
discharge port.
A pump discharge pressure sensor (D) is installed on the opposite side of the "tee" fitting from

the pressure reducing manifold supply line. This pressure sensor is only present on machines
that are equipped with AccuGrade. It is a necessary component for the calibration of the four
proportional solenoids on the EH pilot manifold that are used for blade control. Machines that
are not equipped with AccuGrade will have an "L" fitting at this location, connecting the pump-
supply line to the pressure reducing manifold.
Other components identified above are:
E. pump pressure and flow compensator valve
F. fitting for the load sensing signal line (from the signal resolver network)
G. fitting for the case drain line
This implement pump is identical to the implement pump used in the D6R Series II machines
with differential steering.
The steering and implement control
valve stack is mounted to a bracket
inside the right fender, below the right
console in the operator compartment.
The implement valve stack consists of
the inlet manifold (5), the steering valve
(6), the blade lift control valve (7), the
blade tilt control valve (8), the optional
blade angle control valve (A), the ripper
(or winch) control valve (9), and the end
cover (10), EH pilot manifold for tilt and
lift. The blade angle control valve and
the ripper/winch control valve may not
be present, depending on how the
machine is equipped.

The AccuGrade Boost solenoid valve directs pilot supply oil to an external resolver. The blade
lower solenoid controlled pilot valve also directs pilot supply oil to this same external resolver, in
addition to the pilot supply oil that is directed to the LOWER end of the blade lift control valve.
Pilot supply oil is directed (through the resolver) to the Float Pilot Boost line when either solenoid
is ENERGIZED. The Float Pilot Boost signal line enters the signal resolver network through the
end cover of the valve stack. In either situation, the pump's flow compensator valve senses the
pilot supply oil as a signal and the implement pump will up stroketo maintain margin pressure
above LOW PRESSURE STANDBY pressure. (If the steering valve or another implement valve
sends a higher signal into the resolver network, the highest pressure is sensed by the compensa-
tor valve.)This EH pilot manifold is only present on ARO machines.

Illustration (A) shows the EH pilot manifold when the operator has moved the thumb rocker switch
to the BLADE ANGLE RIGHT position. The Machine ECM receives the signal from the thumb
rocker switch and sends a corresponding signal to the ANGLE RIGHT solenoid controlled pilot
valve and the solenoid is ENERGIZED. Pilot supply oil is then directed to the appropriate end of
the blade angle control valve.

The EH pilot manifold (28) for blade lift and tilt functions is mounted to the outboard side of the
valve stack bracket, if the machine is equipped with AccuGrade.

Components of the AccuGrade EH pilot manifold identified above are the blade raise solenoid, the
blade tilt right solenoid, the AccuGrade Boost solenoid, the blade tilt left solenoid, and the blade
lower solenoid.
The EH pilot manifold receives pilot supply oil from the pressure reducing manifold. The EH pilot
manifold contains four (proportional) solenoid controlled pilot valves that receive PWM signals
from the Machine ECM for operation of the blade lift and the blade tilt functions. When
ENERGIZED, the solenoid controlled pilot valve directs pilot supply oil to the end of the
corresponding implement control valve, in direct proportion to the movement of the dozer control
lever (or as automatically commanded by the AccuGrade system). The EH pilot manifold also
contains the AccuGrade Boost solenoid valve, which uses an ON/OFF solenoid.The AccuGrade
Boost strategy was discussed earlier in the Implement Hydraulics section ofthis presentation.

equipped with Autocarry
A. high pressure supply hose (connects to the front of the valve - not visible here)

On machines with a cold weather arrangement, a ripper warming valve is attached to the ripper valve. The warming
valve allows a small amount of oil to circulate through the valve and return to tank. This prevents thermal shock
from occuring inside the valve.
The ripper control valve is shown in the
illustration to the right. It is mounted to the rear of
the main case, just above the transmission
inspection cover and just below the fuel tank. It
controls the following functions:
RIPPER RAISE,
RIPPER LOWER,
RIPPER SHANK IN,
RIPPER SHANK OUT.
It is supplied oil from the lift and tilt sections of
the implement pump (when a blade tilt function is
not activated). Service points identified in the
illustration to the right:
Shown to the right is the dozer control valve. It is
mounted to the inside of the right fender, just above
the right frame rail. It may be accessed by
removing the floor plates in the operator
compartment. It controls the following functions:
BLADE RAISE,
BLADE LOWER/FLOAT,

TILT RIGHT,
TILT LEFT.
The dozer control valve is supplied oil from the lift
and tilt sections of the implement pump. When
raising or lowering the blade, the oil from both
sections of the pump are combined. When tilting
the blade left or right, the oil from the two sections
are segregated so that only the oil from the tilt
section of the implement pump is used for tilt and
the oil from the lift section of the implement pump
is used for r aising and lowering the blade. Service
points identified in the illustration above are:
Major components in the hydraulic system are located under the operator platform and may be
accessed by removing the floor plates in the operator compartment (except the ripper valve).
The dozer control valve (A) is mounted to the inside of the right fender and just above the right
frame rail. It can be accessed through the floor plates in the operator compartment.
The ripper valve (B) is mounted to the rear of the main case, just below the center of the fuel
tank.
The EH pilot manifold (C) is located on top of the main case, just below the floor plates in the
operator compartment.
The pressure reducing manifold (D) is located on the front of the main case, just below the EH
pilot manifold.
For machines equipped with dual tilt, the dual tilt valve (A) is mounted to the
inside of the radiator guard, and just behind the left grill door. The dual tilt
valve allows the operator to tilt the blade right and left, pitch (dump) the
blade forward, and rack the blade back. The dual tilt valve is standard on
machines equipped with Auto Blade Assist and/or AutoCarry. Service
points identified in the above illustration are:
The hydraulic oil cooler (A) is located beneath the radiator guard. The
illustration to the left shows a view from the front of the radiator guard.

Return oil from the demand fan enters the cooler at the cooler inlet (B).
The cooler bypass valve is contained inside the housing (C).
The bypass valve is pressure activated, only. The thicker (more viscous)
oil creates more pressure, which causes the bypass valve to open when
the oil is cold. This allows most of the oil to bypass the cooler. Once the oil
is warm (less viscous), the pressure is less for the same volume of oil and
the bypass valve remains closed. All of the oil f rom the demand fan motor
will then pass through the cooler.
All of the oil exits the cooler, or the bypass valve, through the cooler outlet
(D) and returns to the hydraulic tank in either condition.
The three-section fixed displacement gear-type implement pump is
mounted to the rear of the flywheel housing, at the upper right. This pump
supplies oil to the implement valves, the RATAAC fan system, and the
pressure reducing manifold.
The lift (front) section (A) supplies oil to the blade lift section of the dozer
control valve and to the ripper control valve. Pump discharge from the lift
section is through the forward pump outlet port (9). Discharge pressure for
the lift section (HPD1) may be tested at the forward pressure test port.
The tilt section (B) supplies oil to the blade tilt section of the dozer control
valve. Pump discharge from the tilt section is through the middle pump
outlet port (E). Discharge pressure for tilt section (HPD2) may be tested at
the middle pressure test port.
The rear section of the implement pump (C) supplies oil to the RATAAC
fan motor through the pilot pressure and RATAAC fan speed control valve
(D). The rear section also provides oil to the pressure reducing manifold.
This oil is pilot oil for the EH pilot manifold and for the dual tilt valve. The
two discharge pressure test ports on the RATAAC fan speed control valve
are used to test Fan Pump Discharge Pressure (HFPD) and Fan Motor
Present on machines with AutoCarry is the diverter
valve (A). It is installed at the front, left of the main,

near the bottom. When the AutoCarry mode is
active, the solenoid valve (B) is energized and
directs the flow from the lift (large) pump back to
tank. The tilt pump is then the sole supply of oil
used for making automatic height adjustments to
the dozer blade during the carry cycle. Lift pump
pressure (HPD3) at the diverter valve may be
checked using the pressure tap on the front of the
diverter valve.
The pressure reducing manifold is
located on the front of the main case,
below the EH pilot manifold. Service
points shown in the illustration above
