Shopping Role play lesson plan
1. Preparatory stage
Firstusetheshoppingdialogueflashcardstopracticethelanguagestudentswilluseintheshoppingroleplay.Putthecardsonatableorwall
andplayslapandsayorflyswatting.Witheitherofthesegames,studentslistencarefullyastheteachersayssomethingrelatedtooneofthe
cardsdisplayed.Thestudentslamstherightcardandrepeatswhattheteachersaid.Forexample,youhaveallthedialoguecardsdisplayed,
andyoucalltwostudentsupfromtwoteams.Thensaysomethinglikethis:“MayIhaveakilo,please?”Thestudentwhoslamsthecardand
repeatswhattheteachersaidgetsthepointforhisorherteam.Keepdoingthisuntilyouhavedrilledthemproperlywiththedialoguephrases.
Afterthegame,takethecardsandholdthemtoyourchestsothestudentscan’tsee.Thenplayamimingandmouthinggameforstudentsto
guesswhichcardyouareholdingandscorepointsaccordingtotheirguess.Forexampleifyouhadthecard:“Howmucharethecarrots?”,
youmouthandmimetheactionwhilestudentsguessthephraseorsentence.
