Parkour, like other extreme sports, can be dangerous to
participate in. You could injure your legs, arms, or other
parts of your body. To participate in this sport, you must
carefully prepare. First, strengthen your body through
exercise. Second, eat healthy foods. Consume plenty of
fruits and vegetables, eggs, seafood and meat. Third,
you should practice some basic parkour moves with
experienced parkour performers. Finally, you need to be
patient. Always remember that practice makes perfect.

Listening Script
Good morning, everyone! Welcome to the Sports
Channel on Radio 1. Today’s topic is Parkour, a type of
extreme sport. The word “parkour” comes from the French
language It means “the path” or “the way through.” People
who play this extreme sport agree that it is fascinating.
Parkour includes running, climbing, jumping, and other
body movements. It does not require a special place for
practice. Parkour players can do the sport in a city park,
on a sidewalk, or even on a buildings roof. Playing parkour
alone is dangerous. Accidents are quite common.
However, parkour is still exciting to a lot of people around
the world. There are parkour competitions in Japan,
France, the US and many other countries every year.

Dear Mr. Bill Walton,
My name is John Williams from Class 7F. I am
writing to ask for more healthy food in our
school's canteen. The school canteen sells a lot
of unhealthy food such as fast food, junk food,
and soda. They are not good for students' health.
Because of this, I think that you, as a principal,
should control the types of food that they sell.
Thank you and I look forward to your reply.

Suggested answer
Stranger Things is an American action
movie. Children will definitely like this movie.
However, it’s only suitable for children
above 13 years old because it has some
dangerous scenes. The movie tells the story
of the adventure of some children to protect
their neighborhood, but they need to keep it
a secret from the adults. The acting is really
good, and it has a lot of interesting action.
I think people should watch this movie
because it’s very exciting.

Wendy:Hi Linda and Chris! I’m bored. Let’s do something
fun!
Linda: Let’s watch a movie.

Chris: That’s a good idea.
Wendy:What movie do you want to watch, Linda?
Linda: I don’t know. I have “Dr. Strange”, “Toy story”,
and “A quiet place” here. Which one do you
like the most, Chris?
Chris:My favorite movie is “Happy Feet”, a cartoon.
It’s really interesting. I am watching it at the
cinema with my sister on Saturday. So I think
I’d try something different from cartoon today.
And funny movie is a good option. What about
you, Wendy?
Wendy:Well, I think I’m OK with everything. No, actually,
I’d prefer us not to watch a horror movie. It’s
very scary and I don’t enjoy it. So today, I’d go
for a funny film like “Toy story” or “Dr. Strange”.
And Linda, what do you want to watch?
Linda: Actually, I am really into action movie. It’s very
exciting, but I want to try something funny
today. “Dr. Strange” is a perfect choice for us.
I’ll grab some popcorns. Can you help me get
some drinks. We can start in a few minutes.
Chris: That would be great!
Wendy:Sound nice!

and traveled to France to begin my volunteering
vacation there. Volunteering on a farm for vacation
was a new experience for me. It was not like your
typical vacation. Every day, I cleaned up the chicken
coops and looked after fifteen horses. It was not an
easy job. I soon realized that I was a terrible farmer,
but that wasn’t a problem. I could enjoy the beautiful
scenery at the farm. Every morning I enjoyed the
noisy sounds of ducks, pigs, and chickens. I could
also practice my French with local people. Talking
with other volunteers from different countries also
helped me learn more about their cultures. My friends
laughed a lot when they listened to my stories about
my time working on the farm. I am grateful for having
a good time with so many nice people during my

Dear Sam,
How are you? I am having a great summer. Last week,
I joined a beach clean-up day.
Because it was sunny, we came early in the morning.
We picked up litter from the shore, such as plastic
bottles and bags, pieces of glass, and other trash. The
beach at that time looked so clean and beautiful. I
also made many new friends and learned a lot about
cleaning.
How about you? I’d love to hear about your summer
volunteering.

Best regards,
John

Good morning, students! In our class today, we are
going to talk about studying abroad. Any of you are

So, how should students prepare for studying abroad?
I’m going to talk about that right now. There are three
things you should remember. First, you should save
money. Although you can get a scholarship or money
for study from your parents, you should save up
because there are a lot of things you need to spend
on when you are overseas. Sometimes you want
to make a short trip somewhere, or you want to buy
some souvenirs, you should have your own money.
Second, improve your English. You can talk with your
friends in English. It’s also a good idea to download
some English learning apps and practice every day.
Third, look for important information about your study
place. Its important to learn about the people and
local culture there. Now I’m talking about your time
living and studying abroad. The most important thing
is that you should learn hard. Try your best to learn new
things and make new friends from different countries.
You can learn interesting things about their countries.
Last but not least, stay safe and don’t go out alone or
late at night. It could be dangerous and cause some

problems. So, students, any questions now?

interested in this topic? Wow, I can see many of you
want to know more about studying abroad. That’s
great. Now, first, lets talk about which country and
how long you should go to study. You can choose any
country to study like the US, the UK, Australia and many
others like Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. You may
want to go to a country that you know much about or
there is someone in your family living there. Or maybe
you just want to try a country that is different from your
home country. How about the length of the study? You
can choose to stay for several months, one year, two
years or even more. Second, what is the best time to
start studying abroad? Well, many students go abroad
while in university, high school, secondary or even
primary school. However, its better to go when you are
older at university because living and studying in a
different country is not always easy for young students.
Third, you may ask what you can study while you are
abroad. You may want to get a degree there, take an
English course to improve your English or just want to
know about the country’s culture.

I spent several months studying in Singapore
last year. While I was there, I got to know a lot
of interesting people. They were friendly toward
me, and we soon became friends. We talked a
lot about our hobbies and interests. They were

also very helpful. They showed me how to use
public transportation. I was soon able to take a
train to go to school. English was a big challenge
for me during summer school. I didn’t seem to
understand all the lessons. Luckily, my new friends
helped me a lot. My English quickly improved. I’m
now very confident about using English in my
study. I had a lovely time back in Singapore, with
much experience.

John: It looks exactly the same as my father’s. He
bought it last week.
Vicky: Really? Oh, where are the other people?
John: They are in the restroom. We can find their
luggage for them.
Vicky: OK, what luggage does Annie have?
John: Hers is a red handbag.
Vicky: Is this hers?
John: No, hers is a big new one.
Vicky: There it is.
John:Right!
Vicky: How about Tina’s and Kat’s?
John: Tina’s handbag is a little old. It’s a big brown one.
