The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is the major broadcasting and internet provider
in the United Kingdom. The company operates four noncommercial television networks, five
national radio channels, one cable networks, digital channels, and an online new service, in
Britain.
What is more, the BBC is perhaps the most influential and dominant media presence in the
world. Its shortwave broadcasts and BBC World Service television broadcasts are receivable
internationally. The BBC website offers news and entertainment programming in 43
languages and in every type of web-deliverable medium. It even provides English language
lessons.
Begun more than 70 years ago by royal decree, the BBC is supported by generous
government subsidies derived from fees paid by television set owners. The BBC so
dominates the internet and broadcast media in the UK that it has recently become the object
of protests by commercial media companies, who complain that the government’s funding
represents unfair competition.

Founded in 1923, Ketchum is an advertising leader today, with 240 offices around the word.
