I. The Simple Past Tense <Thì Quá Khứ Đơn>
* Dấu hiệu: Yesterday; ago; last/in + mốc thời gian trong quá khứ.
* Cấu trúc:
+ Tobe (+) S + was/were + ... (-) S + was/were + not +... (?) Was/Were + S
+…?
+ Ordinal verb
(+) S + V2/Ved (-) S + didn’t + Vo + … (?) Did + S + Vo +…?
* Cách chia
were : We,You, They, chủ từ số nhiều
was: I, He, She, It, chủ từ số ít

*Quy tắc thêm “–ed”
- Động từ tận cùng là “e” -> thêm “d” live->lived

Động từ tận cùng là quy tắc (phụ-phụ-nguyên-phụ) -> gấp đôi phụ âm
cuối +ed stop->stopped
- Động từ tận cùng là (phụ âm + y) -> đổi “y” thành “i” rồi + ed
study-> studied
- Động từ tận cùng là (nguyên âm + y)->giữ nguyên “y” rồi +ed
play->played
II. Cách phát âm “ED” cuối
1. “-ed” pronounced as / id /: sau / t, d /
2. Đọc là /t/ nếu động từ kết thúc bằng: - ch,-p,- f,-s,-k,- th,-sh
3. Những từ còn lại đọc là/d/
III. Wish-sentence:
Type 1: (Loại 1)
Ước muốn ở tương lai (có thể xảy ra ở tương lai)
S + wish/wishes + (that) + S + would/ could + Vo +…
E.g: I wish I would be a teacher.
He wishes he could swim.
Type 2: (Loại 2)
Ước muốn ở hiện tại (sự việc không thật ở hiện tại)
S + wish/wishes + (that) + S + were/were not/V2/Ved/did not Vo + …
E.g: I wish I had a computer.
He wishes he were rich.
Type 3: (Loại 3)
Ước muốn không thật ở quá khứ
S + wish/wishes + (that) + S + QKHT/could have V3/ed + …
E.g: I wish I had come to the party.
He wishes he had not told the story to her.

I. Read and answer the questions:
Last summer, I had a chance to join my friend’s family on a trip to his
home village, about 30 km to the north of Da Nang. The village lies near the
foot of Hai Van Pass. We went there by car. Our car ran at an average speed
so that we could enjoy the beautiful sights along the road.
The green paddy fields stretched as far as the eye could see. Some cows
were grazing by the roadside and some storks were fluttering beyond. I did not
take long, just about half an hour. The village is on the other side of the river,
so we had to park the car under a big banyan tree. We crossed the river by
ferry.
Like almost every village in the country, Nam’s home village looks quiet
and peaceful with bamboos, banyan trees, water wells….We enjoyed the
beautiful sights and the fresh air, met friendly people and did interesting
things. I hope I will be able to go there again.

1. Adverb clauses of result with “so”
Mệnh đề trạng từ chỉ kết quả thường bắt đầu bằng liên từ “so” để nói lên
kết quả do nguyên nhân hay hành động được diễn tả trong mệnh đề chính.
Mệnh đề chính + so + mệnh đề trạng từ chỉ kết quả (chỉ
nguyên nhân)
(chỉ kết quả)


“So” đứng sau dấu phẩy.

E.g: It was hot, so I opened all the windows.
He is sick, so he can’t go to school.
“Therefore” cũng được dùng trong mệnh đề chỉ kết quả nhưng chỉ trong
những câu nói khá trang trọng.
2. Adverb clauses of result with “so .........that”/ “such .........that”
Với “such ............that”
S + V + such + (a/an) + adjective + Noun + that + S + V ..
E.g: It was such a warm day that I took off my sweater.

It was such good coffee that I had another cup.
Với “so ...............that”
S + V + so + adjective + that + S + V ...
E.g: She is so beautiful that her husband feels miserable.
