The Past simple tense:
* Form.
a. Động từ có quy tắc: S + V(ed)
b. Động từ bất quy tắc: S + V (cột II)
* Use.
Thì quá khứ đơn diễn tả một hành động đã xảy ra và kết thúc tại một điểm thời
gian hoặc khoảng thời gian xác định trong quá khứ.
Ví dụ: He arrived here yesterday.

* Note:: -Động từ chia ở thì q khứ đơn có 2 dạng: Nếu là động từ có quy tắc ta
thªm “ed” vào động từ nguyên mẫu. Nếu là động từ bất quy tắc phải xem và học
thuộc lßng ở cột thứ 2 của bảng động từ bất quy tắc.
Ví dụ: learned

-Thì quá khứ đơn thương được dïng với các cụm từ chỉ thời gian xác định ở quá
khứ như: last week/ month/ year…………,a week/ two days/ five months/ three
years ago, yesterday, yesterday morning/ evening, in + năm, from 1945 to 1950,
for + two days/ months…………
Ví dụ: I was born in 1990

She visited Da Lat last summer.
- Trợ động từ “do” chia ở quá khứ là “did”.
* Các dạng câu
Khẳng định: S + V(ed/ cột II)
Phủ định:

S + didn’t + bare –inf

Nghi vấn:

Did + S + bare –inf?

* Cách đọc động từ quá khứ đơn với “ed”.
-“ed” được đọc là/t/ khi những động từ ngun mẫu có âm tận cùng là/f/,/k/,/p/,/t/,/
s/,
Ví dụ: laughed, asked, helped, washed, pushed, dressed……….
-“ed” được đọc là/Id/ khi ngững động từ nguyên mẫu có âm tận cùng là/d/ và/t/.
Ví dụ: needed, wanted, waited, added………….
-“ed” được đọc là/d/ khi những động từ nguyên mẫu tận cùng là các âm cịn lại.
Ví dụ: enjoyed, saved, arrived, filled………….

I. Response with too, either, so and neither
1. Cách dùng của “so” và “too”.
Chúng ta dùng so, too khi đồng ý với một ý kiến khẳng định . So và too có
nghĩa là cũng thế, cũng vậy.
a. Đối với động từ TOBE:

Ví dụ: He is tired. So am I/ I am, too.
b. Đối với động từ thường ta dùng trợ động từ. Lưu ý các động từ tình thái
cũng là trợ động từ.
So + auxiliary verbs + subject
Subject + auxiliary verbs, too
Ví dụ: They love their mother very much. So do we/ We do, too.
2. Neither/ either.
Chúng ta dùng neither và either khi đồng ý với một ý kiến phủ định.
Neither=not……. either có nghĩa là cũng không, cũng vậy.
a. Đối với động từ TOBE:
Neither + be + subject
Subject + be, either.
Ví dụ: The pineapples aren’t ripe. Neither are bananas.
b. Đối với động từ thường ta dùng trợ động từ. Lưu ý các động từ tình thái
cũng là trợ động từ.
Neither + auxiliary verbs + subject
Subject + auxiliary verbs + not, either.
Ví dụ: I don’t like durians. Neither does Hoa/ Hoa doesn’t either.
I can’t remember his name. Neither can I/ I can’t either.
II. Imperative sentences (câu mệnh lệnh)
Câu mệnh lệnh là loại câu yêu cầu hay sai khiến ai làm điều gì đó. Mệnh lệnh
thường nhắm đến người nói chuyện trực tiếp với người nói tức là ngơi thứ 2
số ít hoặc số nhiều. Tuy nhiên trong câu mệnh lệnh chủ ngữ you được hiểu
ngầm, do đó ta chỉ dùng động từ ở đầu câu.
a. Câu mệnh lệnh khẳng định.
Câu mệnh lệnh khẳng định được thành lập băng cách lấy động từ nguyên mẫu
bỏ TO. Người ta có thể thêm please cho lịch sự:
Ví dụ: close the door, please.

Sit down, please.
b. Câu mệnh lệnh phủ định
Câu mệnh lệnh phủ định được thành lập bằng cách thêm don’t trước động từ
nguyên mẫu.
