It is a matter of intense debate whether students should be educated according to their
intelligence levels in schools while some people believe that all students of all intelligence
category levels should be taught with each other. This essay will explore both perspectives
and assert that a collaborative approach is indispensable in effectively addressing this
critical issue.
On the one hand, there is a compelling argument that the method of academic abilities
separation is organized in the school to purpose the of studying students. First of all, the
separation of abilities deal with the construction of suitable lesson plan for students and then
the teaching is more and more convenient and appropriate for specific students. If, in a same
levels class, they can access to the lesson at the same time that helps the teacher ensure the
speed of teaching and learning. As a result, it is the basis for forming a specialized school to
improve the quality of students and then compete over the world. For instance, in this day and
age, there are a number of schools with admissions in this way such as Harvard, and Oxford
that also create a suitable environment to develop students themselves.
On the other hand, a persuasive counterargument is that mixed-ability classes bring
about a number of benefits to students’ development. To be more specific, when students
learn in a mixed-ability class, they are able to study with each other and overcome their
weaknesses. For example, those who excel at science subjects but struggle with art subjects
can improve their singing or painting skills with the help of their classmates and vice versa.
As a result, it is undeniable that they can grow up to become more well-rounded individuals.
In conclusion, although there are controversial opinions on determining who should be
educated according to their intelligence levels, I think they should get on well with each other
and learn in the same environment education to decrease the student's gap between
specialized school and normal school.
