4. Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
• Ask for and give some information about the Asian Games.
• Talk about results and achievements of Vietnamese athletes at 14
th
Asian Games
• Express their own ideas about sport results and about their favorite games and athletes
5. Teaching aids: text book, handouts
6. Anticipated problems: games can make the class become noisy and out of Teacher’s control.

I. WARM-UP: Games: Stop the bus

- Put Ss in teams
- Draw two lines on the board and
label them with two categories.
- Give Ss a letter from the
alphabet, for example letter M.

Useful language:
- Use Simple past tense to talk about the

events in the past.
- Passive voice can be used to talk about
the year the Asian Games took place.
E.g.: The first Asian Games was held in 1951
in New Delhi, India.
- Ask Ss to open their books
and look at the information
about the Asian Games in the
table to check which countries
have been the host countries in
the Asian games until now.
- Ask Ss to look at the
dialogue on page 139 and
repeat the conservation.
- Elicit the language for Ss
- Ask Ss to repeat the
conversation.
- Call some Ss to read the
dialogue aloud.
- Correct their
pronunciation.
- Open their books
and look at the
information about the
