1. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, studdents will be able to:
- know some nouns for pets.
- talk about the possession with I have …
- ask and answer about the pets they have with Do you have …?
2. Language focus:

3. Teaching / learning aids:
- Picture cards, picture SA1, tape for Unit 11, pictures a dog, a cat, a bird, a fish; S-card (/∫/
and /æ/)
4. Anticipated problems:
- Students may mistake when they pronounce /∫/ in fish and /æ/ in cat
- They will also be able to make mistake when using the plural nouns.

Look listen and repeat

- Say in Vietnamese:
The weather is fine today. It s ’
sunny and windy. Suddenly you
hear a beautiful sound from a
tree. (imitate the voice of a
bird).

- Show a picture of a bird.

repeat. (twice in chorus)
- Call 2 students to repeat the
word individually.
- Ask for the meaning
- Write the word on the board
and ask students to copy down.
- Show pictures of a cat, a dog
and a fish to present the other
words.
(Use an S-card (/∫/, /æ/) to
help students pronounce the
word fish and cat better)
(Students to guess the meaning
of the words: pets later)
- Have students read the words
in chorus.
- Get 2 of them to read
individually.

Slap the board
- Stick 4 pictures of the pets on
the board.
- Call 2 teams of students (4
students in each teams) to the
board standing in 2 queues
with an equal distance from the
board.
- Call out the English words.
- Play the game

- Every pair of students slap at
the appropriate picture related
to the word as quickly as they
can.
- The student salp at the correct
picture and faster get 1 point
for his / her team.
- The team with more points is
the winner.
10 minutes Structure:

Vietnamese:
- Do you have pets?
- What pets do you have?
- Show the picture SA1
Who are they?
Where are they?
Do Mai and Li li have any
pets? What kinds of pet do they
have? Look at the book and
listen.
- Play the tape once.
- Get students to repeat
sentence by sentence in chorus
- Find out the structure:
Li Li wants to know if Mai has
any pets, what does she say?

- Explane the way to use the
structure:

say
Picture drill / real things:
- Go through the pictures of
pets.
- Model the first one:
I have a dog.
- Have students repeat (twice)
- Get the whole class to do the
same with the other pictures in
chorus.
- Ask students to work in group
of 4, take turns to talk about
the pets they have.
- Move around and observe.
- Ask some students to speak
aloud individually.
- Other students listen and
comment.
- Read the words of pets again
- Listen and repeat the model
- Make sentences in chorus.

Activity 3: (SA3)
Let’s talk
(mapped dialogue)

- Show a mapped dialogue on
the board.
- Ask students to choose one
pet they have (want to have).
- Model with a good student.
- Ask students do the same in
pairs.
(Provide some words of pets
that doesn t mentioned in the ’
lesson if students want to
know)
- Call some pairs to present the
dialogue in front of the class
(face to face).
- Other students listen and
comment.
- Look at the dialogue on the
board, do as teacher guides.
- Work in pair.
- Some pairs present the
dialogue.

Other activity:
Game
- Divide the class into groups
of 4.
- The first student of each
Play the game as teacher’s
instruction.
group claps his / her hand and
say dog (3 times), then directs
his/her hand to the left/right.
The next student does the same
with the direction the first
student chooses but says the
different words.
- If anyone repeats the word
will get out of the game.
(Have students play three or
four rounds)
