1. GIỚI THIỆU - INTRODUCTIONS
Lần này Anne giới thiêu hai nhóm người thay vì hai người:
ANNE
Sarah, Steve. This is my brother David and his partner, Rose.
And this is my nephew Sam.
2. ĐẠI TỪ QUAN HỆ - RELATIVE PRONOUNS
Đại từ quan hệ là từ dùng để thay thế một danh từ đã được nói
đến

Who, which, that, what và when là các đại từ quan hệ thường
gặp.
Ta dùng who cho người.
Anne is the character who has found her brother. (Anne là nhân
vật người đã tìm thấy em trai mình.)
Sarah is the character who is Mark’s wife.
ANNE
I have some friends outside who helped me find you.
Ta dùng which hoặc that khi nói về vật.
I have a car which is blue.
I have a car that is blue.
Nếu nói về thời gian ta dùng when.
This is the time when the bus arrives.
Còn nếu nói về nơi chốn, ta dùng where.
This is the place where the accident happened.
What có thể dùng với nghĩa điều mà, vật mà - ‘the things that’.
I mean what I say.
ANNE
I think you need to tell us all what happened.
3. HỌ HÀNG - RELATIVES

Baby Sam is Anne’s nephew.
ANNE
And this is my nephew Sam.
Anne is Sam’s aunt.
ANNE
I’m an aunt!

If Anne had a child, David would be its uncle.
If it were a girl it would be David’s niece.
If Anne had a child, it would be Sam’s cousin.

Ta dùng cousin cho cả nam và nữ.
Những họ hàng như vậy được gọi là gia đình mở rộng - extended
family.

brothers and sisters.
Rose is Sam’s mother.
David is Sam’s father.
