I . Objectives
By the end of the lesson , students will be able to write a complaint letter. Using the
format SCRAP
* Vocab : float, frog, toad, prohibit, fine, local authority.
* Structure : the format of writing a complaint letter : would like
II. Preparations
Teacher: picture to teach new words and poster to show the form of the letter
Students: Find and study the letter they have learnt to write before.
III. Procedures
1. Warm up :
- Chatting to lead in the subject of the
lesson.
- Have you ever written a complaint
letter?
- Picture to set the scene
- Introduce five sections of a
complaint letter on the board.
1. Situation
2. Complication
3. Resolution
4. Action
5. Politeness.


- Explain what Ss have to do in each
section
2. Pre-writing
- Ask Ss to work in group to order the
letter .
- Give feed back and answer key :
* Set the scene: These days, many
people begin to catch fish in the lake
a/ Mr. Nhat wrote a complaint letter to the
director of L&P company in Ho Chi Minh
City . the five sections of the letter are not in
the right order. Label each section with the
appropriate letter
1. R - I am writing the north.
2. S - When the truck flies
3. A - I would suggest leaving.
4. C - I look forward your company.
5. P - Yours Faithfully,

3. While - writing
- Ask Ss to read the situation in the
book and then write a similar
complaint letter.
- Let students work in four group
- T goes around and help them
- Give them (7 or 10 minutes to write)
4. Post - writing :
- Teacher corrects one group clearly
( form / content including mistake in
spelling and grammar structures ) and
then compare with the rest ones
- Ask Ss to compare the writing and
correct mistakes if any .
- Congratulate the best group
5. Home work
- Ask Sts to write this letter again

Students: Revise vocab in unit 9: Parts of body and face
III. Procedures
1. Warm up :
- Play with words: to revise old
vocabulary and present some linking
verbs ( see, hear, smell, taste apart
from feel)
- Practice stressed pattern and make
similar verses
2. Presentation:
- Pre- teach new vocab

- Check vocab by picture
- Picture to set the scene:
- Present new grammar structure
( through dialogue )
- Ask ps to listen to the tape then find
out the structure.
- To talk about your needs ( make
sure the situation)
- Ask ps to find more sentences in the
dialogue.
- Ask ps to play role to read the
dialogue then complete the table.
- Check the table
3. Practice:
