Dive-tour operators are now offering tourists the “ opportunity of a lifetime” – a chance to dive with Great White
sharks. Companies have been offering these tours since the 1980s and diving areas such as South Africa’s Dyer Island
have become popular adventure holiday destinations.
Divers are put into shark-proof cages and lowered into waters that are known to be frequented by Great White
Sharks. The cages which are made of steel and covered with welded mesh are strong enough to survive attacks from

Tour operators ensure that they care about environment and the shark’s habitat, and no animals are harmed as a
