Unit 14: Freetime fun .
Lesson 3: A-3.
I.Objectives.
-After the lesson Ss will be able to get acquainted with the
new topic: The development of TV
-To drill Ss the development of the TV, and the
Vietnamese culture spirit : gather, black and white progam.
- To drill Ss reading skills.
II. Teaching aids.
Text book, work book,
III. Teaching procedure
1. Organization:
2. Oral test:
- Ask ss to do the exercise in the work book.
3. Presentation:
A. Warm up.
-Ask ss to list the TV program that they know in English.
-Write them on the BB.
 Children program.
 News.
 Weather forecast.
 Early news.
 Films.
 Sport shows.
 Music shows.
 Discovery program.
B. Presentation:
*Pre-reading.
-Introduce the lesson by ask Ss to look at the pictures in the
book and then describe the pictures.
-Speak aloud before the class.


 There are 3 pictures , the first picture is the picture
of Vietnamese village.
 The second picture is describing people watching
TV.
 The third picture is the Vietnamese village nows
aday.
-Ask Ss to guess the content of the reading base on the title and
the pictures.
*While- reading.
-Ask Ss to scan the reading and give the main content of the
reading.
-Ask Ss to read the reading again and then answer the questions:
 Did many Vietnamse have TV at home ?
 What did they do in the evening?
 What colors were the TV programs 30 years ago?
 Where do they watch TV now ?
- Provide some new words.
TV owners: những nhà có TV.
Gather: tụ tập, tập trung
Any more: ( trong câu phủ định) không còn nữa
No longer: ( trong câu khẳng định).
-Ask Ss to work in pairs to read the reading and share the
asnwers to theirs friends.
-Write the answers on the BB.
In 1960s , most people in Viet nam did not have a TV set.The
people with TVs were popular. In the evening, the neighbors
would gather around the TV. They would stay until the TV
programs finished. Vietnam is different today. More families
have a TV set and life is more comfortable. But neighbors don’t
know each ather as well as they did in the past.

Check the answers if necessary.
- Call Ss to read the summary aloud.
-Ask ss to read the reading aloud infront of the class.
*Post –reading.
- Ask Ss to work in group to read the summary again and then
they give the main content of the reading without text book.
4. Consolidation :
- Ask Ss to give the main content of the reading : The
development of TV .
5.Homework:
- Ask Ss to do the exercise3+4( p 89) in the work book.
