- Ask ss to retell somethings about Dien Bien Phu.
B. Presentation:
* Pre- reading:
- Ask ss to look at the picture and then answer the questions:
 Who is in the picture ? He is Thomas Edison.
 Where and when was he born ? He was born in
USA, in 1847.
 What was he ? He was an inventor.
 What did he invent ? He invented the electric
light bulp.
-Ask ss to look at the text and then intrpoduce the new words:
electric light bulp: bong đèn điện. Power station: nhà máy
phát điện

Gramophone: máy quay đĩa Motion pictures: phim
điện ảnh.
Novel: tiểu thuyết Poetry: thơ ca.

Fairy tales: truyện cổ tích
-Read the new words.

-Ask ss to read the reading and answer the given questions:
 When was Thomas born? - He was born in 1847
and died in 1931.
 What did Thomas Edition invent ? - He invented
electric light bulp.
 What was his other inventions? -They are gramophone,
and motion pictures.
 When was Andersen born? - He was born in
1805 .
 When did he die? - He died in 1875.
 Was his family rich? - No, his family was
poor.
 What did he write ? - He wrote novels,
plays, poetry, and travel books.

-Ask ss to work in pairs to play as an interviewer to ask Thomas
Edision or Andersen.
