FORM of Present Continuous for Future
The Future Simple has two parts: 'to be + present participle (V-ing) of the main
verb.
S + am/is/are + V-ing
I am learning English tomorrow.
He is swimming well soon.
They are watching TV tonight.
S + am/is/are not + V-ing
I am not learning English tomorrow.
He is not swimming well soon.
They aren't watching TV tonight.
Am/Is/Are + S + V-ing
Are you learning English tomorrow?
Is he swimming well soon?
Are they watching TV tonight?
The present continuous for Future is used to talk about arrangements for events
at a time later than now.
USEs of Present Continuous for Future
1. to indicate an event as an arrangement (be + V-ing)
I am meeting Peter at the station
He is leaving tomorrow.
Isn't he coming with us tonight?
A: Are you going to the concert this weekend?
B: I wish I could, but I’m meeting an important client from Oklahoma.
2. to indicate an event will or will not happen in the near future as a plan (be
going to + V)
