UNIT 3: A TRIP TO THE COUNTRYSIDE
Lesson 1: Getting started, Listen and read
A. AIMS: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to scan for more
information to know about Ba and Liz’s trip to Ba’s village and get some more
information about the countryside.
*Teaching aids: Extraboard, pictures, tape.
B.PROCEDURE:
I. Pre

reading:
1. Warm

up: (Getting Started)
-T. shows the picture (P.22) , ask some questions:
Where do these activities often take place?
Do you live in a countryside or in a city?
Are you used to the country life and activities?
- Ask ss to work in pairs and describe what the people are doing in the picture.
- Call some ss to describe before class.
(1) A girl is watering the vegetables.
(2) Some boys are swimming n the river.
(3) A girl is feeding the chickens.
(4) The farmers are harvesting.
(6) A man is ploughing with his buffallo.
(7) A boy on his buffalo is flying his kite.
(8) Some boys are playing soccer.
Q : What activities do you like to do if you come to the countryside?

Introducing the new lesson
2.Pre-teach vocabulary:



(a) bamboo forest : rừng tre (picture/exp)


(a) banyan tree : cõy đa (picture/sit)
It is a typicaltree in Vietnamese villages.


(a) shrine : đền , nơi thờ cỳng (picture/sit)


(a) home village : quờ nhà (translation)


(a) river bank : bờ sụng (B.drawing)


(n) entrance : lối vào (translation)
* Checking: ROR/ Matching
3. Pre-questions:
Who has home village?
How often do you visit your home village?
How do you go?
What do you do there?

Fly a lite, play soccer
-Ask ss to read the text and check if Ba and his family, friend do these things when
they visit their home village.
II. While


reading:
1. Answering Pre-questions:
- Listening to the tape (Students listen to the tape, pointing at the reading in the
textbook

word by word)
- Reading the text silently , check what Liz, Ba’s family did on their journey to
Ba’s village
- Call ss to give their answers and correct.
*Key : - visit Ba’s uncle - go boating
- walk up the mountain - had a picnic on the river bank.
- visit a shrine

- Ask ss to read the statements on page 23 and decide which statement is true and
which is false.

Meaning :
Use : express wishes about the present/future
