others to protect the environment

I. Pre

speaking:
1. Warm

up: Chatting:
T : What are people are doing to the environment ?
*Key: - Throwing trash onto the water.
- destroying the forest.
- polluting the air with smoke.
- making the water, land polluted.
2.Pre-teach Vocabulary :
- (a) leaf – leaves (pl.) : ngọn lá (realia)
- (n) trash : đồ rác rưởi, đồ cũ bỏ đi (synonym = garbage )
- (to) reduce : giảm, làm giảm (translation)
- (to) do harm to : gây hại đối với (explanation)
Are cigarettes useful for our health ?
- (to) prevent ….from : ngăn ngừa … khỏi (synonym = (to)
avoid )
- (to) wrap : gói, bọc (mime)
- (to) litter : vứt rác bừa bãI (translation/ visual)

II. While–speaking:
(Eliciting from students )
1. Students in pairs persuade each other to do something to protect the environment,
using the idea cues in the pink box on page 49. Follow the example.
S1: I think it would be better if we use banana leaves instead of paper or
plastic bag to wrap food.
S2: Why? How come?


S1: Because plastic bags take a long time to decompose, they will cause
pollution. And if we use less paper, we can save trees in the forest. That’s how
we can save the environment.
2. Questionaire: Protecting the environment (b–P.48) (Whole class/groups)
*Possible answers:
1.

How can we save paper?
– Why don’t you/we use banana leaves to wrap food?
– I think we should write on both sides of the paper
Shouldn’t tear paper (to make toys,…)
– Why not recycle used paper?
