By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to get more practice and know how to
use TOBE with personal pronouns.
- Teaching aids: chalk, board
II. Procedures
A. Theory
1. Personal Pronouns

Ngôi thứ số ít số nhiều

2. The Verb TOBE
a. Cõu khẳng định.= The positive form
I + am =’m + tên riêng / tính từ / danh từ
He / She / It + is =’s (nếu số it thì có mạo từ “a / an or the”)
You / We / They + are =’re
b. Câu nghi vấn ( Đưa tobe lên trước chủ ngữ)
Are + you / they / (we) ? Yes, I am/we/they are . No,I/we/they+ be + not
Is + he / she / it ? Yes, he / she/it is. No,he / she / it is not.
- Wh-questions: How (old) + be + S?, What + be + your/his… name(s)?
c. Câu phủ định. ( thêm ‘not’ sau động từ tobe)
I + am not + tên riêng / tính từ / danh từ ( nếu số it
He / She / It + is not thì có mạo từ “a /an or the”)
You / We / They + are not


Notes: Động từ “be” chỉ tình trạng của chủ ngữ, động từ được chia theo các ngôi.
- Dùng trong các tình huống sau: giới thiệu bản thân, hỏi tên người nào đó, hỏi
thăm sức khỏe, hỏi về tuổi tác.

Dạng số nhiều của danh từ:
a. Thông thường thêm “s” vào sau danh từ số ít
b. Nếu N tận cùng bằng “y”- Trước-“y” là một nguyên âm ta thêm”s”.
- Trước -“y’’ là một phụ âm ta đổi “y” thành “ies”
c. N tận cùng bằng “f/fe” ta thay”f/fe” bằng -“ves”
- Ngoại lệ các từ sau ta thêm “s” : roof, froof (chứng cớ), chief (người chỉ huy),
handkerchief, safe,(két,tủ sắt), belief (niềm tin), chef (bếp trưởng)
d. N tận cùng bằng “o”: - Trước “o” là một ng/âm ta thêm “s”. - Trước “o” là
một phụ âm ta thêm “es”

- Ngoại lệ: các từ sau chỉ thêm “s” : piano, photo , kilo, dynamo(máy phát
điện),solo (độc xướng,một mình),auto(xe hơi),grotto(hang),motto(khẩu hiệu)
e. N tận cùng bằng: “s, x, sh, ch, z” ta thêm “es”
f. Danh từ dạng số ít nhưng nghĩa số nhiều: people, police, cattle, public,
clergy (hàng giáo phẩm)

a. V(bare)+ O / C (bổ từ) -> Stand up , Close your books.
b. Don’t + V(bare) + O / C -> Don’t talk in class, Don’t make noise.
2. Pronouns: Personal pronouns and possessive adjectives

Personal pronouns are used Subjects in the sentences.
Possessive pronouns are used Adj , they stand before the nouns.

* General rulers: add ‘s’ after the N.
- N tận cựng bằng “o”: - Trước “o” là một ng/õm ta thờm “s”. - Trước “o” là một
phụ õm ta thờm “es”. Ngoại lệ: cỏc từ sau chỉ thờm “s” : piano, photo , kilo,
dynamo (mỏy phỏt điện),solo (độc xướng,một mỡnh),auto(xe hơi), grotto(hang),
motto (khẩu hiệu)
- Put ‘es’ after the N ended by : s /ss, ch , sh , x , z box – boxes, watch –
watches, class – classes, trừ từ mượn của nước ngoài:stereos
- The N ended by: f /fe -> ves knife – knives, shelf = shelves -> /vz/
