You are your child’s first and best teacher!
Here are ways to help your child practice skills while having fun!
Day 1 Write each letter of the alphabet on a slip of paper, place the
slips of paper in a paper bag, and shake them up. Invite your
child to grab a letter from the bag and name the letter.
Day 2 Read a story to your child. Stop at the end of each page and

ask your child to tell what will happen next. Then read on,
and have your child make a new prediction.
Day 3 Write the words red, yellow, and blue on cards. Point to the
word blue and ask your child to hunt for blue items (blue
sock or blue pencil) and place them next to the word blue.
Give the same instructions for red and yellow items.
Day 4 Point to an item in the house and ask your child to “name it”
(tell what it is). Start with easy items such as book and add
more difficult things.
Day 5 Practice making rhyming words. Say the word hat and help
your child name rhyming words, giving clues for words such
as bat, cat, fat, pat, rat, and sat. Continue with can (fan,
man, pan, ran, van) and cap (lap, map, nap, rap, tap, zap).
