Ngày Hiền Mẫu hay Ngày của Mẹ (Tiếng Anh: Mother's Day)
đương thời được khởi xướng bởi bà Anna Marie Jarvis tại thành

phố Grafton, tiểu bang West Virgina, Hoa Kỳ, để tôn vinh những
người mẹ hiền, đặc biệt là trong khung cảnh của mái ấm gia
đình. Theo truyền thống của Hoa Kỳ và đa số các quốc gia trên
thế giới ngày nay, Ngày Hiền Mẫu được tổ chức hằng năm vào
ngày Chủ Nhật thứ nhì của tháng 5. Một số nước khác cũng có
các ngày lễ tương tự được tổ chức vào các ngày khác trong
năm.


Ở Việt Nam, trước đây chỉ có ở miền Nam với Lễ Vu Lan,
nhưng những năm gần đây do sự lan rộng của internet và các
phương tiện thông tin đại chúng, nó đã được phổ biến cả nước
và được mọi người hưởng ứng. Vào ngày này,những người
con nhớ ơn cha mẹ sẽ dành đến cho mẹ của mình những món
quà ý nghĩa, từ vật chất đến tinh thần.
Thông thường nhiều người chọn ngày chủ nhật thứ hai trong
tháng 5.
