 Dùng các kênh có sẵn của AMPS (30 MHz wide): mỗi kênh chia
thành 3/6 time slot + nén và số hoá dữ liệu tiếng nói
 Năng suất vào khoảng 3/6 lần AMPS
 Tốc độ mã hoá lời nói : 7.95kbps (AMPS : 30Kbps)

 Họ các chuẩn cho hệ điện thoại di động 3G
 Dùng kỹ thuật CDMA, đƣợc phát triển từ cdmaOne
 Gồm tập các chuẩn CDMA2000 1X, CDMA2000 EV-DO Rev. 0,
CDMA2000 EV-DO Rev. A, và CDMA2000 EV-DO Rev. B
 Cdma2000 1X/1XRTT (IS-2000):
 Chuẩn giao diện không khí cho CDMA2000
 1x: nghĩa là 1 times Radio Transmission Technology, dùng cùng băng
tần RF nhƣ IS-95 (một cặp kênh vô tuyến duplex 1.25 MHz)
 1xRTT: nhân đôi năng suất của IS-95 bằng cách thêm vào 64 kênh
 cdma2000 1xEV-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized):
 Chuẩn viễn thông cho truyền dữ liệu dạng không dây qua tín hiệu vô
tuyến (radio)
 Dùng CDMA + TDMA để cực đại hoá cả thông lƣợng của ngƣời dùng và hệ thống

 Chuẩn giao diện không khí cho mạng viễn thông di động 3G
 Dùng phƣơng pháp truy cập kênh DS-CDMA (Direct Sequence –
CDMA) và phƣơng pháp FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) để tăng
tốc độ và số ngƣời dùng
 SCDMA (Synchronous CDMA):
 Do Trung Quốc và Châu Âu đề xuất
 Lả phƣơng pháp truy cập đƣờng truyền dựa trên spread-spectrum
