I. Advantages/ Disadvantages
a. Topic sentence:
- Viết về advantages:
It is true that A has both advantages and disadvantages, but/ yet I believe that it has
more advantages than disadvantages.
It is true that A has both advantages and disadvantages, but / yet I believe that the
former outweighs the latter.
A has become fairly/ really/ extremely common these days for/ thanks to the
advantages it brings people.
It is now fairly/ really/ extremely common for people to use A for/ thanks to its
outstanding advantages.

- Viết về disadvantages:
It is true that A has both advantages and disadvantages, but / yet I believe that it
has more disadvantages than disadvantages.
It is true that A has both advantages and disadvantages, but/ yet I believe that the
latter outweigh the former.
It is true that A has many advantages, but/ yet I believe that it still has some
disadvantages that we need to take into consideration.

Các bạn có thể dùng từ/ cụm từ đồng nghĩa để thay thế cho một số từ/ cụm từ ở
trên:
It is true that = It is ubdoubted that = It is indupitable that = It is out of question
that = There is no doubt that
I believe that = I strongly believe that = I hold a firm belief that = I am of the
opinion that = I am convinced that
Ngoài ra, có thể sử dụng các từ/ cụm từ đồng nghĩa để thay thế cho 2 từ advantage
và disadvantage khi viết:
Advantage = benefit = good point = plus
Disadvantage = drawback = bad point = minus
Advantages and disadvantages = pros and cons

 Giải thích thêm hoặc đưa thông tin cụ thể hơn:

 Đưa ra ví dụ ( có thể có hoặc không):

e. Conclusion
 Viết về advantages:
In conclusion, with all the mentioned advantages of A, I think that the usage of it
should be encouraged more.
 Viết về disadvantages:
In brief, A has some disadvantages and thus it is (highly) recommended that people
use it with care.
In summary, A actually causes some problems and thus it is (highly) recommended
that people keep the usage of it under control.

 Viết về cả advantages và disadvantages:
As a way of conclusion, A has both advantages and disadvantages but I believe the
good points are more important than the bad ones.
To summerise, A has both advantages and disadvantages and therefore it is very
neccessary for people to make good use of these pluses and minimise the
unexpected minuses.

LƯU Ý:
Ở trên chỉ nói đến trường hợp hoặc chỉ viết về advantages, hoặc chỉ viết về
disadvantages.
Trong trường hợp viết về cả advantages và disadvantages:
Nếu quan điểm của bạn nghiêng về advantages thì đặt disadvantages vào
supporting idea #3, và sử dụng câu tương ứng ở phần đó khi viết một bài thuần về
disadvantages.
Ví dụ: Nếu viết supporting idea #1 và #2 là về advantages of computer, thì ở
supporting idea #3, bạn cần dùng mẫu câu:
Lastly, nobody can deny the fact that A is among the reasons/ factors leading to
something.
Nếu quan điểm của bạn nghiêng về disadvantages thì cũng thực hiện tương tự như
trên.
