Last year, I spent my summer holidays at the seaside town. The hotel was modern and comfortable. I had a
wonderful holiday until the fire
It was Saturday evening and everybody was sitting in the discotheque ( which was) on the ground floor.
It was crowded with people. They were dancing and singing, happily. Suddenly we smelt smoke. Then black
smoke began to fill the room. Everybody started to scream in panic. People ran toward the fire exits. One door
was blocked. Many people began to coughing and choking
Then, just as we thought we had only minutes to live, the fire brigade
arrived. Firemen fought their way into the room and soon everyone ws safely out of the building. Luckily nobody
was seriously hurt. It was the most frightening experience of my life

UNIT 4 ; WRITING A LETTER OF COMPLAINT
First of all, you say that there are only native teachers, but my class has one Vietnamese teacher and two native
teachers. You also say that each class has more than 20 students but there are over 30 students in my class.
Furthermore, in the advertisement, you say we can have books and cassette tapes free of charge but in fact we
had to pay for them. To make the matter worse, the classroom is not air – conditioned. That is quite different
from the advertisement. Finally, what I do not like most about your centre is the time. The class time is not the
same as what the advertisement says. Classes not only start late but also finish early

mainly fish. A female dolphin gives birth to one calf every two years after a gestation period of eleven to twelve

UNIT 1: WRITING ABOUT FAMILY RULES
Dear Mary,
Today, I have something interesting to tell you. It’s my family’s rules. Every family has its own rules. Mine has
a few. First, during the school year I’m allowed to watch TV until I have finished my homework. Sometimes my
parents let me go out with my friends on Saturday or Sunday, but I must come home early. Second, in my family
everybody has to do their share of the household chores. And mine are doing the washing and preparing meals.
Third, my parents want me not to chat on the phone more than ten minutes. How about your family
rules? I am very happy with my family. My parents really love me and take good care of me.
Love,
Daisy
UNIT 4: DESCRIBING SCHOOL EDUCATION SYSTEM IN VIET NAM
There are two levels of education in Vietnam: Primary and secondary education.
Children in Vietnam go to primary school at the age of six and move to secondary school when they are 11.
Then they spend four years in lower secondary and 3 years in upper secondary. They usually finish secondary
school at the age of 17.
Schooling is compulsory for Vietnamese children until they finish lower secondary. It take 9 years for the
children to finish compulsory education. The duration of the academic year is 35 weeks or 9 months. It runs from
September to May and is divided into two terms. The first term is from the beginning of September to late
December and the second term starts in early January and ends in May. A national examination for GCSE is

usually held in June for all students who finish high school. And then those who pass the GCSE exam are able to
sit for the university or college entrance examination in July. Probably, students will take only an examination
for finishing high school and for university or college.

have a pet robot dog. I won’t have to feed it, and I won’t have to walk it. The dog will only need batteries. People

habitats.
5. Law should be enacted to protect endangered animals.

people not to use some fashionable wildlife products.
