Christmas in Animal Land
The second night was not so bad.
Some practice in the day they’d had.
Still, Lion’s thanks were somewhat gruff.
In fact, he said he’d had enough.
The third night came—he cried “Bravo!”
Gave them cocoa and let them go.
So by the time it’s Christmas night,
The carolers might sing all right.

Made Lion growl, “Oh, go away!”
The noise when they began to play
They made the moonlit air resound.

The Carolers
Hooray!
Sing hooray! For school is over.
Books and lessons are now past.
Pens and papers go on the shelf.
Vacation day is here at last.

The Christmas Tree
The tree is brought inside the house,
And all the girls and boys
Come in from far and near to see
It filled with lovely toys.
They then go home and lie awake
Enchanted by the sight,
To count how many days must pass
Before it’s Christmas night!

The holidays begin today!

The Sleigh Ride
“Who’s for a sleigh ride across the snow,
Setting your fingers and face aglow?
Flying along through the frosty air.
I’ll drive the sled!” cried Polar Bear.
“Faster, Daddy,” the youngsters cried.
“Faster, faster! You could if you tried.
We’re polar bears, you can’t forget.
Let’s see how near the Pole we get!”

The Christmas Party
Of course, the youngsters shared the fun.
They made more noise than anyone.
And if they had too much good cheer,
It’s only Christmas once a year.
