“My brother Dan said,
“I’ll make dinner.
“If I don’t,
“we’ll all get thinner.
Our mom was reading
her new book.
Lost in thought,
she forgot to cook.
“Let’s cook some spaghetti.”

“Then the sauce
went in the pan.
“I can do this!
“Yes, I can!
First he got
the water hot
and put the noodles
in the pot.
“I can make spaghetti.”

‘The food was done.
‘I chose instead
‘to set the table.
‘And Mom still read.
“I thought that I
could help out, too.
“But then Dan said,
“I’m almost through.”
‘Cause Daniel made spaghetti.

“You’ve been busy,
I can see.
“Have you been cooking
this for me?
“Our mom came in
and looked around.
“She gasped, “What’s this
that I have found?”
“Is what I smell spaghetti?”

“I can’t believe
what you have done.
“I hope you both
have had some fun.
“It smells so good.
I cannot wait
to put some dinner
on my plate.”
“And thanks, I love spaghetti!”
