PROTEST AGAINST B/L FIGURE
When there is a difference between the B/L figure and ship’s figure, the
responsible officer should take the following measure in order to provide
against cargo shortage claims:
1. Ship’s figure is smaller than B/L figure by 0 to 0.5%:
Prepare a protest letter as attached here and obtain the signature of the
responsible person for the shore terminal.
2. Ship’s figure is smaller than B/L figure by 0.5% to 1.0%:
Request the shore terminal to check figure again.
If the figure is still 0 to 1.0% less after check, then prepare a protest
letter.
3. Ship’s figure is small than B/L figure by 1.0% or more:
The issue of such B/L figure is not desirable, of which the responsible
should notify the Tank Division of the company and wait for its
instructions.
4. Ship’s figure exceeds the B/L figure:
There is not need to protest.
