People don’t like unlucky numbers
In some buildings and hospitals in U.S, there is no 13 thfloor because the number 13 is unlucky.
In Asia people don’t like the number 4 so buildings skip the 4 th floor. In Hong Kong the number

4 is so bad that buildings with 50 floors only have 35 floors because they don’t have floors with
the number 4. For example, they skip floor 4,14,24,34, and 40-49. Hotels and hospitals in Japan
also skip number 9. And in Italy, the number 17 is very unlucky, but in some places in Italy the
number 13 is very lucky!
