My cousin Blanca is a motor mechanic. She woks in a busy garage in the middle of the town,
about five minutes’s walk from home. She likes everything about the job, except for the fact that she
can never seem to get completely clean at the end of the day. All the other mechanics, except for the
supervisor, are men. She gets on well with everyone very well, although she occasionally has
trouble with the customers who think that, being a woman, she cannot be a good mechanic. As it
happens, she is considered by most of her workmates to be the best mechanic in the garage.
Her husband Gianni is the accountant and works at the Company head office, which is just
outside the town. Her only daughter is Sarah, a student, studies at a university in the city. She
sometimes comes home to see her parents at the weekends.

My name is Petty and this is my husband, Phil. We both work in offices in London. We have

orange juice.

For lunch we usually have a salad or soup and sandwich. That’s at about 1.30.
We usually have dinner at half past seven in the evening. It is a big meal of the day and we have
meat or fish with vegetables and potatoes or rice. We have orange juice with the milk. On Saturday
evenings we go to a restaurant for dinner at about eight o’clock.
