Both "Should" and "Ought to" have many different meaning and usage.
In many cases, "Should" is just a milder form of ought to."
Ought to and Should can mean "to recommend" or to "advice"
Strong: You really ought to have this done by tonight. (=I advice you to have this done by
tonight.):
Mild: You should have this done by tonight.
Ought to and Should can also mean "expectation"; "assumption"...1
Strong: He ought to have been here by now.
Weak: He should have been here by now.
Notice: No immediate threat or the possibility of suffering from a grave consequence is
implied.S
The negative and interrogative forms of "ought to" are used only very rarely:
Such things ought not to happen.
You ought not to have said that.
What things ought you to know?

It would be much more usual to say such things should not happen or you shouldn't have
said that.
