I. Các cấu trúc cơ bản
1. It takes + sb + time + to do sth = Sb spend +time + (on) doing sth
Eg: It took her two hours to make this cake. = She spent two hours making this cake. (Cô
ấy mất 2 giờ để làm chiếc bánh này.)
2. Understand = tobe aware of: hiểu, nhận thức được cái gì
Eg: Do you understand this exercise?= Are you aware of this exercise? (Bạn có hiểu bài
tập này khơng?)
3. Like = tobe interested in = enjoy = keen on = tobe fond of Ving: thích, đam mê cái gì
Eg: She likes going out with her friends = She is interested in going out with her friends
(Cơ ấy thích ra ngồi với các bạn của cô ấy.)
4. Because + clause = because of + N/phr.N: Vì/ bởi vì cái gì/ ai
Eg: The boy was absent because he was ill = The boy was absent because of being ill.
5. Although + clause = despite + N = in spite of / dispite + N/V-ing/phrase = Despite/In
spite of the fact that + clause: Mặc dù....
Eg: Although she is sick, she goes to school. = Despite / In spite of her sickness, she goes
to school.
Despite/In spite of the fact that she is sick, she goes to school.
6. Succeed in doing sth = manage to do sth: thành cơng trong lĩnh vực nào đó
Eg: We succeeded in finding a job. = We managed to find a job.
7. Cấu trúc có Too/So/Enough
+) S + V + too + adj/adv (for sb) to do sth = S + not + V +adj/adv + enough + : quá…
để làm gì/ khơng đủ …để làm gì
Eg: she is too young to get married
= she is not old enough to get maried ( cô ấy quá trẻ để kết hôn)
+) S + tobe + so + adj + that Clause = S+ tobe + such (a/ an) N that … : quá đến nỗi
mà
Eg: She is so beautiful that everybody loves her = She is such a beautiful girl that
everybody loves her. (Cô ấy qúa đẹp đến nỗi mà ai cũng u cơ ấy)
8. Cấu trúc có Prefer
+) Prefer sb to do sth = S1 + Would rather + S2 + Vo sth: thích, muốn ai làm gì ( câu

cầu khiến)
Eg: I prefer you (not) to smoke here = I’d rather you (not) smoke here (Tơi thích bạn
(khơng) hút thuốc ở đây)


+) Prefer doing sth to doing sth = Would rather do sth than do sth = Like sth/doing
sth better than sth/doing sth: thích làm gì hơn làm gì
Eg: She prefers staying at home to going out = She’d rather stay at home than go out (Cơ
ấy thích ở nhà hơn là ra ngoài)
9. Can = tobe able to = tobe possible
Eg: I can speak english fluently = I‘m able to speak english fluently
(tơi có thể nói tiếng anh trơi chảy)
10. S + had + hardly + VpII when/before + S + Vpast
= S + Had + no sooner + VpII+ than + S + Vpast
Đảo ngữ:
+) Harly + had +S + V(P2) when S + V_past: ngay sau khi … thì …
= No sooner + had +S + V(P2) than S + V_past
Eg: Harly had I left the house when he appeared
= No sooner had I left the house than he appeared
(Ngay sau khi tôi ra khỏi nhà, anh ta đã xuất hiện)
11. Not ……….. any more : khơng cịn nữa
= No longer + dạng đảo ngữ S = no more V
Eg: I don’t live in the courtryside anymore (Tôi khơng cịn sống ở nơng thơn nữa)
No longer do I live in the coutryside = I no more live in the coutryside
12. At no time + dạng đảo ngữ : không khi nào, chẳng khi nào
Eg: I don’t think she loves me (Tôi không nghĩ cô ấy yêu tôi)
= At no time do I think she loves me (Chẳng khi nào tôi nghĩ cô ấy yêu tôi)
13. Tobe not worth doing sth = there is no point in doing sth : khơng đáng, vơ ích làm
gì
Eg: It’s not worth making him get up early (Thật vơ ích khi gọi anh ta dậy sớm)

= There is no point in making him getting early
14. It seems that = It appears that = It is likely that = It look as if/ as though: dường
như rằng
Eg: It seems that he will come late = It appears that / It is likely that he will come late
= He is likely to come late = It look as if he will come late (Dường như anh ta sẽ đến
muộn)
15. Not………until ……..: không cho tới khi
= Not until + clause/ N + Đảo ngữ ( Auxiliary + s + v)
Eg: Man didn't fly into space until the early 1960s
=> Not until the early 1960s did man fly into space.
16. Need to V = tobe necessary (for sb) to V: cần làm gì
Eg: You don’t need to send her message (Bạn không cần gửi tin nhắn cho cô ấy)
= It’s not necessary for you to send her message


17. Although + clause = In spite of + Nound/gerund = Despite + Nound/gerund: mặc
dù …
Eg: Although she is ill, she go to school
= In spite of her illness, she go to school (dù ốm, cô ấy vẫn đi học)
18. S + often + V = S + be accustomed to + Ving = S + be used to +Ving /N: quen với
làm gì
Eg: Nana often cried when she meets with difficulties = Nana is used to crying when she
meets with difficulties (Nana đã quen khóc khi cơ ấy gặp phải khó khăn)
19. This is the first time + S + have + V(P2) = S+be + not used to + Ving/N: khơng
quen làm gì
Eg: This is the first time I have seen so many people crying at the end of the movie = I was
not used to seeing so many people crying at the end of the movie. ( Đây là lần đầu tiên tơi
nhìn thấy nhiều người khóc như thế lúc kết thúc phim = Tôi không quen nhìn nhiều người
khóc đến thế khi hết phim)
20. S + V + O = S + find + it (unreal objective_Tân ngữ ko xác định) + adj + to + V

Eg: I find it interesting to read Harry Poster = Harry Poster is interesting book
21. It’s one’s duty to do sth = S + be + supposed to do sth: trách nhiệm của ai phải
làm gì
Eg: It’s their duty to do this job = They are supposed to do this job.
22. S + should/ had better/ ought to + V = S + be + supposed to do sth: đã dự định làm
gì
Eg: He should/ had better/ ought to study tonight = He is supposed to study tonight
23. Imperative verb (mệnh lệnh)= S + should (not) + be + V(P2): khơng nên làm gì
Eg: Don’t use the car in case it breaks down = The car shouldn’t be used in case it breaks
down
24. I + let + O + do sth = S + allow + S.O + to do Sth: cho phép ai làm gì
Eg: My boss let him be on leave for wedding = My boss allow him to be on leave for
wedding. (Sếp của tôi cho phép anh ta rời tiệc cưới)
25. +) S + V + because + S + V = S + V + to + infinitive
Eg: She studies hard because she wants to pass the final examination = She studies hard to
pass the final examination. (Cơ ấy đã học chăm chỉ vì cơ ấy muốn vượt qua kì kiểm tra)
+) Because + clause = Because of + noun/gerund
Eg: Because she is absent her from school … = Because of her absence from school …
(Bởi vì cơ ấy vắng mặt ở trường nên …)
26. S + V + so that/ in order that+ S + V = S + V + to + infinitive: … vì vậy …
Eg: I learn english so that/ in order to I can find a good job in the future
= I learn English to find a good job in the future
27. To infinitive or gerund + be + adj = It + be + adj + to + V


Eg: Studying english is very important = It is important to study english
28. S + V + and + S + V = S + V + both … and: … vừa … vừa
Eg: She is intelligent and she is beautiful
She is both intelligent and beautiful ( cô ấy vừa thông minh vừa xinh đẹp)
29. S + V + not only … + but also = S + V + both … and: … khơng chỉ … mà cịn …

Eg: He translated fast and correctly = He translated not only fast but also correctly (Anh ấy
dịch bài không chỉ nhanh mà cịn chính xác)
30. S1 + simple present + and+ S2 + simple futher =If + S1 + simple present + S2 +
simple futher.
Eg: We are hard-working. We will use English very well
= If we are hard-working, we’ll use English very well (nếu chúng ta chăm chỉ, chúng ta sẽ
sử dụng tiếng Anh thành thạo)
31. S1 + didn’t + V1 + Because + S2 + didn’t + V2 = If Clause
Eg: She didn’t pass the exam because She didn’t learn hard = If she learnt hard, she would
pass the exam
32. S1 + V1 + if + S2 + V2 (phủ định)= S1 + V1 + Unless + S2 + V2 (khẳng định)
Eg: If it doesn’t rain heavily, I will go camping.
= Unless it rains heavily, I will go camping
33. S + V + O… = S + be + noun + when/where/whom/which…
Eg: I like her. I met her yesterday. = I like her who I met yesterday.
34. S + be + scared of sth = S + be + afraid of + sth: lo sợ điều gì
Eg: I’m scared of Ghost = I’m afraid of ghost
35. Why don’t you do sth? = In my opinion = Let’s + V = S + advise + you + to v = S +
suggest + that + S + present subjunctive: gợi ý làm gì
Eg: Why don’t you go to the cinema at this weekend = I advise you to go to the cinema at
this weekend = in my opinion, you should go to the cinema at this weekend = theo tôi, bạn
nên đi đến rạp chiếu phim vào cuối tuần này
35. S + get + sb + to do sth = S + have + sb + do sth: nhờ, bảo ai đó làm gì
Eg: She gets him to spend more time with her = She have him spend more time with her
(Cô ấy bảo anh ấy dành nhiều thời gian hơn cho cô ấy)
36. S + ask + sb + to do sth = S + have + sb + do sth = bảo ai đó làm gì
Eg: Police asked him to identify the other man in the next room = Police have him identify
the other man in the next room (Cảnh sát bảo anh ta nhận diện người đàn ông ở phòng bên
cạnh)
37. S + request + sb + to do sth= S + have + sb + do sth: yêu cầu ai làm gì

38. S + want + sb + to do sth = S + have + sb + do sth: muốn ai làm gì
Eg: I want her to lend me = I have her lend me. (Tôi muốn cô ấy cho tôi mượn)

Eg: She always speaks no care = She is always careless about her words.
40. S + be + adj + that + S + V = S + be + adj + to + V
Eg: English is necessary that you will have a better job. = English is necessary to have a

Eg: He is a careful driver. = He drives carefully.
