2. Point, ask and answer.
A . Aims: By the end of the period, Ss will be able ask and answer questions about what
they did at a birthday party.
*Sentence patterns:
- What did you do at the party?
We played hide-and-seek.
* Vocabulary: hide-and-seek, dance, chat, watch
* Teaching aids : student book, flash cards, posters, CD, computer.
B. Procedures:
I. Warm up: Ss role play the story.
II. Look, listen and repeat
- have ss look at the pictures on page 24
- Point to each picture and ask: who is this?
- Tell ss that they are going to listen to the dialogue between Nam and Hoa.
- Use a poster and two puppets to present the situation.
- Play the record for ss to repeat each line
- Have ss work in pairs and repeat dialogue between Nam and Hoa
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases a few times to reinforce their pronunciation.
III. Point, ask and answer:
- Set the scene: Imagine You are at the birthday party. We are going to ask and answer
about what you did at the party birthday.
- Pre-teach vocabulary: hide- and seek dance, chat, watch
- Point to the first picture and ask: What did you do at the party ?
Ss answer: We played hide-and-seek.


- Repeat the step with some other pairs for the rest pictures
- Have ss practise using the pictures in their books.
- Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary.
- Call on some perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and
give comments
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation
IV.Reinforcement:
- T shows all the pictures on the board and call ss to ask and answer.

A. Aims: By the end of the period, Ss will be able to read a birthday card and write a
birthday invitation card.

B. Procedures
I. Warm up:
Ss play the game: Chain game:

S1: What did you do at the party?
S2: I danced. What did you do at the party?

I. Pre- reading:
- have ss look at the poster on page 24, ask them to identify the time, place of the
birthday party.
-Tell ss that they are going to read a birthday card to answer the questions.
II. While - reading.
- Have ss do the task individually
- Have ss compare their answers in pairs for correction
- Call on some ss to report their answers, the rest of the class listen and give comments.
- Give answer keys : 1. On December 24th 2012.
2. At Chua Boc street, HaNoi

III. Post- reading:
Set the scene: You have a birthday party next week. Write an invitation card

Lesson1

2. Point, ask and answer
A. Aims: By the end of the period, Ss will be able to ask and answer questions about
someone’s daily activities.
*Sentence patterns: What does she often do in the morning?
She’s got lessons at school
* Vocabulary: morning exercise, have luch, have dinner, homework
* Teaching aids : student book, flash cards, posters, CD, computer.
B. Procedures
I. Warm up:
Simon says
Let Ss play the game with the word phrase: put up your hands, put down your hands, clap
your hands, stand up, sit down, open your book, close your book….
II. Look, listen and repeat.
- Have Ss to look at the book on page 27 and get Ss to look at the title of the unit and the
picture.
- Elicit their answers to identify the people in each picture:
Who is this?/ Who’s this boy/ girl?
- Recall the familiar vocabulary and pre-teach the vocabulary(Write the words on the
board and ask Ss to repeat a few times)
• have got classes
• has got classes
- Set the context: Linda’s asking Phong what Mai, his sister, often does in the morning.
He said that Mai has got classes at school. Now listen to Mai talking about what she
often does in the morning/ afternoon/ evening.
- Have Ss listen to the recording as they read the lines in the speech bubbles

- Play the recording again for Ss to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles two times.
- Divide the class into groups to take turns to say the lines of Mai and Tony.
III. Point, ask and answer.
- Have Ss look at the pictures a, b, c and d on page 27
- Set the context: You are asking your partner about these characters’ daily activities
from P.a to P.e.
- Ask Ss to Read the line in speech bubbles and elicit Ss’ prompts to complete the lines.
- Write the questions and answers on the board and get Ss to repeat a few times.
- Recall the familiar vocabulary and pre-teach the vocabulary:

answering questions about daily activities and listen for specific information.
*Sentence patterns: What does she often do in the morning?
She got lessons at school
* Vocabulary: morning exercise, have luch, have dinner, homework
* Teaching aids : student book, flash cards, posters, CD, computer.
B. Procedures
I. Warm up: Ss write the words that they have learnt.
II. Listen and match.
1.Pre- listening.
- Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 28,
- elicit the names of the characters and daily activities.
- Tell ss that they are going to listen to the recording tick the correct picture.
- Point to the pictures and elicit ss’ answers to questions:
What does she often do in the morning?
- T lets ss guess the answers.
2. While - listening:
- Play the recording all the way through for ss to listen, as they look closely at the
pictures in their books
- Play the recording again for ss to listen and match to the correct pictures

- Replay the recording for ss to check their answers.
- Have ss trade their answer in groups for correction.
- Give feedback: 1-b, 2-a, 3-b, 4.c.
3. Post- listening:
- Play the recording again for the whole to listen to reinforce their pronunciation.
- Ask a few questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text.
- Repeat the step with some other pairs for the rest pictures.
III. Talk.
1. Pre- talking :
- Have ss look at the pictures on page 28 of the ss book
- ask them to identify the characters and what they do in the morning, afternoon, evening.
- Get them to read the instruction. Make sure they understand the task.
- Do the first picture with the whole class in order to give them a clear idea of how the
activity works.
Eg:
S1: What does she often do in the morning ?
S2: She often walks to school.

- have ss practise ask and answer in pairs.
- Monitor the activity and offer help.
- Correct pronunciation error(s) (stress, assimilation of sounds, intonation) when
necessary.
- Call on a pair to give demonstration at the front of the class. The resr of class observe
and comment.
3. Post - talking:
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases to reinforce their pronunciation.
IV. Reinforcement: Ss ask and answer about daily activities.

V. Homelink:
- Have Ss make a list of their daily activities for the class to display.

A. Aims: By the end of the period, Ss will be able to to pronounce correctly the sounds of
the letters oo as in afternoon and those of the letters br as in brush.
*Sentence patterns:
* Vocabulary:
* Teaching aids : student book, flash cards, posters, CD, computer.
B. Procedures:
I. Warm up: T shows on some pictures about presents for ss to ask and answer
questions about daily routines.
II. Listen and repeat.
- Ask Ss to open their books on page 29. Stick the large- sized sheet of the paper with this
section written on it on the board. Draww ss’ attention to the sounds of the letter oo as in
afternoon and those of the letters br as brush. Get ss to repeat the words a few times.
II.Listen and read together.
- Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 29. Focus their attention on the pictures
andidentify the objects in the pictures. Point to each picture and ask: what is this? Tell ss
that they are going to listen to the text.
- Play the recording again all the way through for ss to listen.
- Play the recording again for ss to repeat each line in the speech bubbles as they point to
it and have clapping: brush ( 1 clap ) , school ( 2 claps ).

- Play the recording twice: once for ss to listen all the way through and once for them to
clap their hands at the focused words.
III. Listen, complete and say aloud.

- ask ss to look at the book on page 29. Check if they understand the activityand the
meaning of the focused words. Recall the vocabulary, using appropriate techniques. Ask
them to guess all the complete words. Do the first example with the class if they seem
confued.
- Set time and let ss do the task independently.
- Ss check heir answers in pairs. Call on some ss to report their answers to the class. Have the whole class read in chorus all the words .
IV. Reinforcement: Get ss to read and put an accent (‘ ) before the stressed syllable of
each word .

order they hear.

B. Procedures:
I. Warm up: Ss read and put an accent (‘ ) before the stressed syllable of each word
( part say aloud )
II. Listen and tick.
1. Pre- listening.
- Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 30, elicit what are in the pictures and
guess what they are saying: tell ss that they are going to listen to the recording and
number the pictures. Get ss to focus on the presents and their order as they hear. Poit to
each picture and elicit their answers.
2. While - listening:
- Play the recording all the way through for ss to listen, as they look closely at the
pictures in their books
- Play the recording again for ss to listen and number the correct pictures
- Replay the recording for ss to check their answers. Have ss trade their answers in
groups for correction.
- Give feedback: a. 2, b.4, c.3, d.1.
3. Post - listening:
- Play the recording again for the whole to listen to reinforce their pronunciation.

- Ask ss to open their books at page 30, and set the context: You are going to play the
game “ Crossword puzzle “ Do you know how to play this game?”. Recall the rules of
game. Stick the large-sized sheet of paper with the puzzle on the board. Get Ss to repeat
the name of each picture a few times.
- Ask ss to copy the crossword puzzle into a sheet of paper and fill in the box.
- Ss can play in pairs or groups. Monitor the activities and offer help when necessary.
- Call some ss to complete the puzzle on the sheet of paper. Get the class to check the
words.

and ask them to identify the characters in the pictures. Point to each picture and ask: who
is this? Tell ss that they are going to listen to the dialogue between Nam and Hoa. Preteach vocabulary: surf the Internet, school project. Use a poster and two puppets to
present the situation. Play the recording again all the way through for ss to listen.
- Play the recording again for ss to repeat each line in the speech bubbles as they point to
it.
- Have one ss repeat Nam’s part, and the other Hoa’s part. Repeat the step, but this time
