By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to talk about their study habits and to
listen for specific information to fill in a report card.

*. Skill : Listening and speaking.
*. Techniques : Practice in pairs and group.
*.Teaching aids: poster, cassette, tape.
*. Anticipated problem: ss may have difficulties in listening and gap filling.
B. Contents:
* Warm-up: Brainstorm.
- Ask ss to write their ideas on the board about the topic:

III. Post-listening: Speaking
- Ask ss to work on their own to answer the questions about them and their
partners on page 48 (using words in the boxes).
* Questions:
1. When do you do your homework?
2. Who helps you with your homework?
3. How much time do you spend on these subjects: Math, Vietnamese, History,
English, ect?
4. Which subjects do you need to improve?
5. What do you do to improve your English?


- Ask ss to work in groups of five to report what they have known about their
partners' study and then write it up.
*Eg: Nam said he did his homework after dinner.
Hoa said his sister helped him with her homework.
Ba said he needed to improve Literature. ………….
IV. Homework:
- Learn by heart vocabulary. Finish "Write it up".
- Do Exercise 3, 4 in workbook.
- Prepare for next lesson: Read.

A. Aim:
By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to understand the text and get specific
information.

- Set the scene: Today, we are going to read a text about how a language learner
can learn new words.

e. Learners don’t only learn the meaning but also the spelling and pronunciation of
new words.
III. While-reading:

- Have ss to read the text on page 49 and check their predictions.

d. Why don’t some learners learn all the new words they come across?

c. To remember words better, they write examples, put the words and their
meaning on stickers, underline or highlight them.
d. They may think they can't do so. Instead, they learn only important words.

III. Post-reading: Survey
- Hang on the poster on the board and ask ss to look at the table.
- Run through.
- Let ss to work in groups of 6 to interview one another and tick the ways they
have used to learn new words.

- Ask ss to share with their friends.

We received our second semester report last month. I got good grades for

next school year.
In a few weeks, we are going to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. That is a
moon festival in Autumn in Vietnam. This afternoon, I am going to Ha Long Bay
with my aunt and uncle by bus and I am going to stay there with them until after
the festival. I will send you a postcard from there.

A. Aim:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use adverbs of manner
and modal Should as an advice; use reported speech with commands, requess
and advice.

* Form: S + be + (a/ an) + adj + N.
S + V + … + adv of manner.
Adj + ly -> adv of manner
* Use: - Adv of manner modifies for verb in the sentence.
- Adj modifies for noun after it or subject in the sentence.
2. Practice: Language focus 1 - p52.
- Ask ss to work in pairs to do ex 1 on page 52, using adverbs in the box.

- Give the explanation of the madal verb "should".

Or "Please give Tim this dictionary".
- Tim's mother reperted it to Tim:
"Miss Jackson asked me to give you this dictionay."

* Form: S + asked/ told + someone + to do sth.
* Use: to report one's commands and requests.
