3. What does Sue ask her grandmother about?
S: Granny, can you help me?
G: Yes, what is it, my dear?
S: Your lemon cake is very tasty and I have invited my
friends. Can you bake it for us?
G: My dear, I’ll do it with great pleasure. When do you
need it?
S: Today, I’m sorry not to tell you yesterday, but I
was very busy decorating the house.
G: Well, things do happen. What time do you need it?
S: At about three o’clock in the afternoon.
G: OK, I have enough time for your cake. But it’s
better not to waste time.
S: Thank you, I love you my dearest granny!
G: I think, I’ll bring it myself.

2. What does Sue discuss with her mother?
M: Sue, did you choose decorations for your
party?
S: Yes, mum. I think we need balloons, coloured
ribbons, and two posters on the walls.

M: OK, whom do you want to invite?
S: I want to invite three girls and three boys
from my class and three girls from the opposite
class.
M: Do they know each other?
S: Well, I’m not sure.
M: Then you need badges with their names and
place markers.
S: I think, I’ll try to make them myself.
M: What about invitations? Have you written
them?
S: Yes, of course.
M: Have you prepared any games for your
friends?
S: Yes, mum. I’ve prepared the fortune tree
with presents, riddles and quizzes.
M: As for the candles, they are in the box.
S: Thanks a lot, I have forgotten about them.
4. What is Sue preparing?
M: What are you doing now, Sue?
S: A fortune tree for our guests. I’m hanging
funny toys, sweets, figured chocolates,
postcards with poems, funny wishes.
M: Oh, I understand. Your friends will guess
your riddles, and if they are a success, then
they’ll cut the presents.
S: Yes, you’re right mummy. But the presents
are also very funny. I think they’ll enjoy this
game.
M: Have you prepared any other games?

S: Don’t worry, mummy. I have a lot of them.
We’ll have a nice time, I think.

5. What party was it?
I wanted to organize a party at home and asked my mum’s permission. She allowed me to
do it and I made a plan of it. First of all I sent invitations to my friends. Then we thought about the the
decorations. We bought beautiful ribbons, bows, two posters on the walls, party confetti, coloured balloons.
The house was perfectly decorated. There were ten of us. Not all of them knew each other, so I prepared
badges with their names and place markers. My mum and I laid the table. There were biscuits, sweets, apple
and orange juice, a kiwi pie, a fruit salad and many other tasty things. My granny brought her magnificent
cake and I put thirteen candles there. Soon my guests came. They congratulated me and gave me many
pretty presents. We talked, played a lot of interesting games, listened to the music, danced, joked and
laughed. Nearly all my guests got presents from my happy tree. I was very happy. It was a fairy day.
