Warm-up
Hot potato
The students make a circle, they will be given an item (it can be any item) and
they have to pass the item while the song is being played. When the song is paused by
the teacher, the student carrying the item will mention a place in Costa Rica he wants to
visit and the main tourist attraction it has.
Pre-activity

are mentioned in the PowerPoint presentation carried out by the teacher.

II. Read the short story “Getting into Pérez Zeledón’s
Wonders”. Then answer the questions below.
1. Mention the three places that caught the author’s
attention.
2. Mention four activities than can be done in Plaza
Monte General.
3. What is the difference between Perez Zeledon’s park to
most parks?
4. What is painted on the emblem in the Catholic
Cathedral in Pérez Zeledón?
5. How much does it cost to buy a ticket for a movie?
6. What did he want to buy but was too expensive?
7. What happened to his wallet?
Post-activity
The class is divided in groups of five students. Each group is
given a flashcard with an image of a Costa Rican place. They
will have 5 minutes to discuss about the image. After that, the
students will go in front of the class to mention something they
know about the place and something they see in the image.
Consolidation
III. Write a 5 line short paragraph about the main tourist
attractions Costa Rica has.
Follow-up Activity
The teacher puts a big poster board on the wall and
asks the students to write one Costa Rican attraction on it. At
the end, the poster board will be full of Costa Rican attractions
and will be pasted on the wall so that it can be seen in coming
classes.
