This activity is based on a game called “New Identities”. You have to cut out the
cards with the famous cartoon characters (cut them out according to the colours,
e.g. the two characters in grey must be together in a card, etc.). You give each kid
one card, which they have to keep secret because it’s their new identity. They
would also have to look for another character (teach them the meaning of “looking
for”)
Teach them the structures:
“Are you (Superman)?”
“Yes/No, I am/ I’m not”.
Then the kids can:
1. either move around all together asking one another about the character they
are looking for;
2. or, sitting in a circle, they take turns to ask the other classmates, i.e. one kid
stands in the middle of the circle, chooses one classmate and asks him/her; in
this case allow three goes for each kid.
When they find their match, they sit together. It’s fun and they learn the
structures taught quite quickly. To make it more challenging you can give them
points if they find their matches.
Enjoy it!
